About this Opportunity
The Division of Student Affairs (STUA)is made up of four departments with 26 reporting units that work together to help create an environment where our students are actively engaged in their academic pursuits and the co-curricular life of the university. From Food Services to Academic Advising, each of the units of Student Affairs exists to help UVic students succeed.
The International Centre for Students (ICS), a unit within the Department of Student Services, is a centralized resource which provides services, information and supports for all international students including degree-seeking, incoming and outgoing exchange students, visiting and visiting research students.
*This position is an on-campus position and does not have a remote working arrangement *
Job Summary
A unit within the Department of Student Services, the International Centre for Students (ICS) is a centralized resource providing programs, information, supports and non-academic advising that:
ICS plays a key role in supporting and contributing to the retention and success of international students and providing international and intercultural opportunities for domestic, international, and indigenous students.
The Program Assistant reports to the Associate Director, International Centre for Students but also receives day-to day guidance and supervision from the Managers, Director and Advisers. The Program Assistant provides administrative and data support for the ICS Program teams and information and guidance to students, staff and faculty. This position manages the ICS program’s information systems and provides document processing, event support, data entry, multimedia creation and communication and social media support. In addition, the Program Assistant provides coverage for the Frontline Assistant as needed.
Job Requirements
Experience:
Must have a minimum of two (2) years of recent experience in a similar position, preferably in a post-secondary or institutional environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Related work experience should include:

Specialized Knowledge/Education:
Secondary school graduation or equivalent. Some post-secondary education would be considered an asset.
