Job summary

BGC Okanagan is seeking a summer student for the Program Area Leader role in Recreation Programs. BGC Okanagan is hiring a summer student for the Program Area Leader role in Recreation Programs at Lake Country Club! The Program Area Leader is responsible for planning and implementing recreational, social, and educational activities for a specified program. This is a temporary position from July 2 to August 22, 2025.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Plan and implement recreational, social, and educational activities for the program.
  2. Collaborate with Activity Leaders to deliver the program and encourage participation.
  3. Oversee daily operations, facilities, equipment, and compliance with guidelines and licensing.
  4. Recommend program development, policies, and evaluations to the supervisor.
  5. Promote the program through promotional materials and community events.
  6. Coordinate with community service providers and represent the organization externally.
  7. Maintain records, statistics, and produce reports as needed.
  8. Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Diploma, certificate, or relevant experience working with children/youth in recreation, education, or social services.
  • Completion of at least 20 hours of courses in child development, guidance, health and safety, or nutrition (licensed programs).
  • One year of recent related experience.
  • Class 5 Driver’s License, willingness to obtain Class 4.
  • First Aid and Food Safe certifications or willingness to obtain.
  • Successful completion of agency screening, including a Criminal Record Check.

This position is open to all applicants and requires Union membership.

Hours: 35 hours/week, Monday to Friday, between 9:30 am - 8:00 pm, depending on program needs.

Rate of Pay: $19.82/hour
