About The Position
Lambton College of Applied Arts & Technology invites applications from qualified and passionate individuals interested in teaching Welding Techniques across a range of programs in the Faculty of Applied Science, Engineering, Technology & Trades.

This is a full-time role position to commence in September 2025. All courses to be taught in person at our Sarnia, ON campus.
Rate of pay is to be determined at time of hire in accordance with education & qualifications based on our classification form in the Collective Agreement.

Specific Accountabilities
The Professor will be responsible for providing academic leadership and for developing an effective environment through the design and revision of programs and courses, defining and evaluating learning outcomes, developing appropriate teaching and learning environments, and developing / selecting appropriate learning materials. You will be expected to support student learning and progress, as well as create assessments, rubrics, and evaluate student achievement.
Participating in the development and modification of curriculum, participating in various committees, and keeping current in your field through consultation with business and industry representatives are essential components of this position. You will champion the development of educational programs in collaboration with public and private sector partners.
- Create and maintain a positive, engaging, and inclusive teaching and learning environment
- Prepare and/or update lesson plans; utilizing D2L (our Learning Management System)
- Provide innovative course instruction using a variety of teaching and assessment methodologies in alignment with curriculum standards and direction of the College
- Prepare, administer, and grade student assessment including detailed feedback within 10 business days
- Monitor student performance, maintain progress reports and facilitate student success
- Communicate regularly with students in a timely manner
- Follow the Academic Calendar, the Standards of Teaching Practice and College policies and procedures
Qualifications
- Certificate of Qualification as a journeyperson in Welding or Metal Fabrication (Fitter – Structural Steel / Plateworker) OR a related and relevant post-secondary diploma with industrial welding certificates
- A minimum of seven years industry related experience (SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, OFW, FCAW, SAW, OAC, PAC, etc. and thermal cutting skills required)
Additional qualifications include teaching or training, industry experience and the desire to contribute to the education of the next generation of skilled trades professionals. Applicants must have the ability to be an effective role model in an educational setting and function effectively in a team environment.
