Job summary

Synapse360 seeks a Professional Services Consultant to deliver Microsoft cloud, infrastructure and platform projects for its customers. You will own technical work packages from discovery and planning through to implementation, documentation and handover.

The role requires strong Windows Server, Azure, and Microsoft 365 experience, plus the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders across Isle of Man or Manchester projects.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in infrastructure engineering, project delivery or professional services.

About the Role

The Professional Services Consultant delivers Microsoft cloud, infrastructure and platform projects for Synapse360 customers. The role is suited to an experienced Windows infrastructure engineer with practical capability across Azure, Microsoft 365, identity, networking and automation.

The postholder will take ownership of assigned technical work packages from discovery and planning through to implementation, documentation and handover. The role requires clear customer communication, disciplined delivery and the ability to work effectively with project, pre-sales, service desk, infrastructure and security teams.

Required Skills And Experience

• A minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands‑on experience in infrastructure engineering, technical project delivery or professional services, ideally within an MSP, systems integrator or multi‑customer environment.
• Strong Windows Server capability, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file services, certificates and general server troubleshooting.
• Practical Azure administration and implementation experience, particularly Azure virtual machines, networking, storage, NSGs, VPN connectivity, identity integration and automation.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Intune, Conditional Access, Entra ID Join and Entra Connect scenarios.
• Ability to deliver customer projects from preparation through to implementation, validation, documentation and operational handover.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Good judgement, attention to detail and the confidence to work independently while escalating risks or seeking peer review when appropriate.

Experience

Desirable experience

• Experience in a professional services, project engineering or MSP delivery role.
• Experience delivering Microsoft 365 tenant, Exchange Online, file, server or identity migrations.
• Azure Virtual Desktop awareness.
• Exposure to Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, CI/CD pipelines, Azure Bicep, ARM templates, Terraform, YAML or similar automation tooling.
• Experience with firewall platforms such as FortiGate, SonicWall, Cisco Meraki, Sophos or similar.
• Awareness of Veeam, Azure Backup or similar backup platforms.
• Basic understanding of ITIL processes, particularly incident, request, change and problem management.
• Ability to support pre‑sales scoping by identifying technical risks, dependencies and delivery considerations.

Education

No single certification is mandatory where the candidate can demonstrate strong practical experience across Windows infrastructure and customer project delivery. Evidence of continued technical learning and a strong Microsoft infrastructure background is expected.

• Microsoft AZ-104 Azure Administrator Associate, or equivalent Azure administration experience.
• Microsoft AZ-400 Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, or equivalent practical exposure to Azure DevOps, CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code.
• Microsoft 365 or Endpoint Administrator certification, or equivalent practical experience.
• Microsoft Windows Server, legacy MCSA/MCSE certifications, or equivalent practical experience.
• ITIL Foundation, or practical experience working within structured change and incident processes.
