Job summary

Bombardier Transportation GmbH in Canada seeks a Professional Senior Engineer for Door Structural and Mechanism Design to lead mechanical design and drawings for door systems on Challenger and Global programs. You will model with CATIA V5, mentor colleagues, and ensure aerospace standards are met.

Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will deliver components on schedule and within budget while supporting manufacturing across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 8+ years (12+ years if equivalent).
• Proficient in CATIA V5 design and modeling.
• Strong mechanism design knowledge.
• Familiar with aerospace door design regulations.
• Experience in machined and sheet metal parts design.
• Strong communication in English and French.
• Knowledge of composites design and Fibersim is a plus.
• Knowledge of Kinematic module is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design using CATIA V5 and oversee detail drawings and installation drawings for work packages under your responsibility.
• Interpret aerospace specifications to develop solutions that meet design requirements.
• Support production on Bombardier multi-platform programs (Challenger 350/650 and Global 5500/6500/7500).
• Understand and resolve door and mechanism problems across multi-site assembly lines (Querétaro, Dorval, Toronto).
• Collaborate with Stress, Materials & Processes, Systems, Flight Science, Design, Methods, Quality and Operations.
• Participate in projects that aim to increase productivity, reduce waste, and improve financial performance.
• Plan and adhere to project schedules while respecting allocated budgets.
• Lead projects and support development of colleagues.
• Collaborate with internal and external suppliers to support the manufacturing team.
• Be involved in the manufacturing/assembly/installation phases of your designs.

What are your contributions to the team?

• Perform mechanical design using CATIA V5 and oversee the production of detail drawings and installation drawings for work packages under your responsibility.
• Interpret technical specifications necessary related to aerospace domain to develop solutions to meet the design requirements that will be entrusted to you.
• Support production operations on Bombardier multi-platform aircraft programs (Challenger 350 / 650 and Global 5500 / 6500 / 7500).
• Understand and resolve doors and mechanism problems, providing technical support to multi-site assembly line (Querétaro, Dorval, Toronto).
• Work in close cooperation with other disciplines such as Stress, Materials & Processes, Systems, Flight Science, Design, Methods, Quality and Operations to achieve the company’s business objectives.

• Plan and adhere to project schedule deadlines while respecting allocated budgets.
• Lead projects and support development of colleagues.

• Be involved in the concrete accomplishment of your designs by support as the designer the phases of manufacturing, assembly and installation of your achievements.

How to thrive in this role?

• You have a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering with eight (8) or more years or technical equivalency with twelve (12) or more years of experience in a similar position.
• You have knowledge of CATIA V5 design and modeling software.
• You have strong knowledge of mechanism design.
• You have a strong knowledge of the aerospace regulation related to door design.
• You have strong experience in machined parts, sheet metal parts design and fabrication.
• You have a strong sense of responsibility, good practical and technical judgment and are flexible.
• You demonstrate dynamism, good listening skills and a strong interest in teamwork.
• You have the ability to manage priorities.
• You have the ability to work under pressure to meet design deadlines.
• You are familiar with Microsoft Office software such as PowerPoint and Excel.
• You have great relational and editorial skills in English and French.
• Knowledge of composites design and Fibersim software is an asset.
• Knowledge of Kinematic module is an asset.
