Job summary

Bombardier Transportation GmbH in Dorval, QC, seeks a Senior Engineer, Engine Performance to lead engine performance activities in development programs. You will assess thrust, fuel consumption, and integrate with propulsion subsystems, supporting certification efforts.

Applicants should have 8+ years in engine performance, hands-on ground/flight testing experience, and knowledge of Part 25 requirements. Proficiency in French and English is essential; a Bachelor's in Engineering is required,

  • Experience conducting engine performance ground and flight tests for aircraft certification.
  • Knowledge of Part 25 regulatory requirements.
  • Fluent in French and English; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Understand engine performance, powerplant interfacing with aircraft subsystems.
  • Plan and support engine performance flight testing and data analysis for certification.
  • Contribute to engine performance processes and development programs.
  • Assist with hiring and knowledge-sharing across programs.

What are your contributions to the team?
  • Understand the functioning of the engine control system, the aircraft performance, and how these interface with the whole aircraft and various sub-systems;
  • Support engine performance aspects such as bleed system integration, idle settings definition (including steep approach, go-around performance);
    • Support the Propulsion, Thermodynamics, Hydraulic, Electrical and Fuel System groups;
  • Estimate installed power plant performance;
    • e.g., Thrust, Specific Fuel Consumption, Rotational speeds, Turbine temperatures, etc
  • Plan engine performance flight testing, support to flight test and flight test data reduction;
    • Create reports to document flight test data analysis and to support aircraft certification;
  • Plan the engine performance tasks and priorities for a development program
  • Participate in the application and the development of the Bombardier Engineering System (BES);
    • Focus on ensuring Engine Performance processes are followed and continually improved.
  • Support new product development activities as part of an IPDT
  • Support management with the hiring process by reviewing candidates and participating in selection interviews
  • Collect Lessons Learned and ensure best practice/common approach across aircraft development programs
How to thrive in this role?
  • You have more than 8 years of relevant experience in the field of Engine Performance
  • You have experience conducting Engine Performance ground and flight tests for aircraft certification and supplier compliance.
  • You possess a good working knowledge of Part 25 regulatory requirements.
  • You possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in French and English
  • You hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering,
    • Master's degree would be an asset
  • You have good knowledge of various programming languages used by the industry (e.g., FORTRAN, C++, Python, Matlab, Teamcenter) and various Microsoft Office Suite packages
  • You are eligible to obtain (CGD) Controlled Goods Clearance to be able to work on Missionized Aircraft Programs in support of Bombardier Defense
