Job summary

University of Toronto Mississauga is seeking a Professional Development & Career Strategist to advance student career readiness. The role partners with Management and campus stakeholders to connect students with programming and services, inside and outside the department.

The successful candidate will design workshops, develop partnerships, and coach students on career goals, leveraging Symplicity and MS Office tools within a fast-paced, equity-driven environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three years related experience.
  • Experience advising and coaching students on professional and career development.
  • Experience coordinating programs and initiatives for undergraduate students.
  • Experience using Symplicity for student programming.
  • Experience collaborating with student leaders, campus partners, and faculty.
  • Experience with event planning and execution, and delivering presentations.
  • Excellent understanding of career development theory, practice and resources for post-secondary students.
  • Strong data management and report compilation skills
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, project management and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with accurate grammar, spelling and proofreading.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel).

  • Conduct detailed labour market analysis to inform program and partnership development.
  • Develop and revise business methods that support employment services activities and objectives.
  • Develop communications plans to support departmental objectives.
  • Develop content for marketing and/or promotional materials.

Your opportunity:
At the Department of Management, we pride ourselves on educating and preparing students for leadership positions in the world of business. With our wide range of specializations and course offerings, we give students the opportunity to acquire critical skills and the expertise required for successful careers. Our students learn best practices and explore current issues, all within an environment of collegiality and professionalism. This role will work to support the professional development of our students and connect them appropriately to programming offered both internally through our Professional Skills Development Program as well as externally.

Your responsibilities will include:
