Are you an investigative professional with experience conducting or managing investigations in healthcare or related settings? Do you have experience in patient care reviews, quality improvement, healthcare administration, professional regulation, patient safety, or healthcare risk management? The BC College of Nurses and Midwives offers an exciting opportunity for a full-time Professional Conduct Review Investigator.

Status: Regular, Full-Time
Work Location: Hybrid, Vancouver B.C. (minimum 2 days in office)

What you’ll be doing

The Professional Conduct Review Investigator will:

  1. Investigate complaints about BCCNM registrants as accepted by the Inquiry Committee, in accordance with the Health Professions Act (HPA) and related legislation.
  2. Negotiate restrictions, limitations, or conditions on registration on behalf of the Inquiry Committee.
  3. Report on investigation findings and resolutions.
  4. Participate in resolution processes, including drafting and ratifying agreements.
  5. Ensure documentation is available for legal and committee review.
  6. Collaborate with monitoring teams to ensure safe practice of registrants under conditions.
  7. Liaise with legal counsel to ensure compliance with legislation.
  8. Contribute to policy and procedure development for the PCR program.
  9. Assess and improve investigative systems and processes.
  10. Demonstrate commitment to Indigenous cultural safety, humility, and anti-racism initiatives.

Qualifications

  • MA/MSc in Nursing or Healthcare, or JD/LL.B. with relevant experience.
  • 7–10 years of progressive nursing or relevant experience.
  • Understanding of legal processes, mediation, and negotiation preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare investigations, trauma-informed practices, and Indigenous health issues is highly valued.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, conflict management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and Indigenous issues is an asset.
  • Travel within BC may be required.
