Job summary

City of Laval seeks an Urban Planning professional to coordinate review and implementation of construction projects in the Urban Planning Department, advising management on land use planning including zoning and architectural integration.

You will meet with developers and architects, guide taxpayers on architecture and zoning, participate in planning studies, and help revise the land use plan and construction regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in urban planning or architecture and a master's in architecture
• Registered with Ordre des architectes du Québec
• 4 years of experience in design or analysis of real estate development projects
• Heritage experience is an asset

STATUS: Temporary - Maternity leave replacement

SALARY: Class 10 – from $92,258.33 to $121,355.67 / year

SCHEDULE: 33.45 hours per week, DAY; MONDAY to FRIDAY - 08:30 to 16:30

The challenges that await you

You will coordinate the review and implementation of certain construction projects submitted to the Urban Planning Department. You will advise the Department's management on land use planning (construction, architectural integration, zoning, etc.).

More specifically, you will be required to:

• Analyze the compliance of site planning and architectural integration plans (PIIA), integrated projects, special projects, or others aimed at issuing permits while ensuring the application of urban planning regulations (zoning, construction);
• Meet with developers, contractors, or architects to inform them of the corrections needed in their plans and specifications regarding building safety, construction details, aesthetics, interior or exterior layout, etc.;
• Guide individuals or groups (taxpayers) wishing to receive information regarding architecture and zoning in Laval;
• Participate in internal management meetings of the Department, provide all relevant information regarding your area of expertise, and ensure follow-up on decisions concerning your sector;
• Participate in the development and realization of comprehensive planning studies and land use planning, architectural proposals, the development of regulatory projects required to achieve municipal objectives in land use planning, and the revision of the land use plan and construction regulations.

The ideal profile for us

• Hold a bachelor's degree in urban planning or architecture / architectural sciences and a master's degree in architecture;
• Be a member of the Ordre des architectes du Québec;
• Have four (4) years of experience in the design or analysis of real estate development projects;
• Experience in heritage is considered an asset.
