Job summary

Schaeffler Aerospace Canada Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to develop, implement, and optimize production technologies for new and existing Schaeffler products in a dynamic, team-based environment.

You will collaborate cross-functionally to validate machines, tools, and processes, drive APQP projects, and improve quality, cost, and cycle times while supporting ramp-up and production.

Qualifications

  • Strong manufacturing engineering and production-technology experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of grinding processes.
  • Practical knowledge of honing, turning, and assembly is advantageous.
  • Experience with machine, tool, and process validation.
  • Experience preparing requirement specifications and capital procurement documentation.
  • Proven ability to improve quality, cost, cycle time, setup time, scrap, and process robustness.
  • Experience working in an APQP environment.
  • Strong project-management capabilities.
  • Knowledge of continuous-improvement methodologies.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and optimize production technologies for new and existing Schaeffler products.
  • Validate and implement manufacturing technologies, machines, tools, and processes.
  • Integrate new technologies into existing production systems in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Support the industrialization and production launch of new products and processes
  • Improve manufacturing processes with a focus on: Product quality, Cost efficiency, Process robustness, Scrap reduction, Setup-time reduction, Cycle-time improvement, Tool-cost optimization.
  • Apply continuous-improvement methods to identify and eliminate process losses.
  • Develop and maintain action plans to achieve defined improvement target
  • Create technical requirement specifications for machines, tools, equipment, and production processes.
  • Prepare capital procurement documentation and support the equipment procurement process.
  • Define technical, quality, performance, and acceptance criteria for production assets.
  • Plan and execute the validation of machines, tools, equipment, and manufacturing processes.
  • Support process capability, performance, and acceptance activities.
  • Ensure that production technologies meet defined quality, cost, capacity, and robustness requirements.
  • Work within an APQP environment and contribute to the required project and quality documentation.
  • Combine product and process knowledge to improve Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
  • Provide manufacturing input during product and process development.
  • Identify potential production risks and recommend design or process improvements.
  • Apply expertise in grinding; knowledge of honing, turning, and assembly is desirable.
  • Support production and manufacturing departments during process implementation and handover.
  • Provide operator and maintenance training for new or modified processes.
  • Create and maintain process parameters and work instructions.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting and support during ramp-up and serial production.
  • Ensure effective transfer of knowledge and ownership to production teams
  • Manage manufacturing-technology projects from concept through implementation and handover.
  • Coordinate activities, milestones, resources, risks, and deliverables.
  • Lead or contribute to cross-functional teams involving production, quality, maintenance, logistics, purchasing, product development, and suppliers.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
  • Create, maintain, and control process parameters and technical documentation.
  • Use ERP systems - preferably SAP to support manufacturing, material, equipment, and process-related activities.
  • Ensure that relevant production and process information is accurate, current, and accessible.

  • Competitive wages - wages range from $68,000 - 82,000 annually (depending on experience and education);
