Job summary

Airswift is seeking a Production Field Technician for a major LNG facility in British Columbia. The role focuses on safe operation of process, storage, loading, unloading, and utility systems, with opportunities to cross-train across Utilities, Water Treatment, Shipping & Loading, Storage, or Process Operations.

The candidate will conduct field inspections, monitor equipment, support maintenance, and collaborate with control room personnel to ensure safe, reliable plant performance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial plant operations.
• Experience in utilities, water treatment, storage/loading, LNG, petrochemical, or related industries.
• 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate (with firing time) or higher.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Demonstrated ability to respond to process upsets and operational challenges.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
• Legal authorization to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate LNG and related process equipment in accordance with operating procedures.
• Execute equipment start-ups, shutdowns, and operational adjustments.
• Perform routine field inspections and equipment checks.
• Monitor process conditions using control systems, field instrumentation, and mobile technology.
• Identify and communicate equipment or process issues to Operations leadership.
• Interpret and apply P&IDs, process flow diagrams, equipment drawings, and operating manuals.
• Support plant reliability by identifying abnormalities and initiating corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate shift logs and provide detailed shift handovers.
• Conduct field sampling activities and review laboratory results.
• Participate in emergency response activities, drills, and incident management.
• Prepare equipment for maintenance by performing isolations, LOTO, gas testing, and verification of zero-energy states.
• Issue, verify, and manage work permits in accordance with site safety requirements.
• Support the safe return of equipment to service following maintenance activities.
• Create and manage maintenance work orders.
• Assist with the development of isolation plans and operational procedures.
• Maintain high housekeeping and safety standards throughout operational areas.

Position Overview

The Production Field Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of process, storage, loading, unloading, and utility systems within a large-scale LNG and natural gas processing facility. This role involves conducting field inspections, monitoring and adjusting process equipment, supporting maintenance activities, and working closely with control room personnel to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.

Field Technicians may be assigned to Utilities, Water Treatment, Shipping & Loading, Storage, or Process Operations areas and will have opportunities to cross-train and advance into other operational roles.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications & Experience

Required

• Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial plant operations.
• Experience within utilities, water treatment, storage and loading, oil & gas processing, LNG, petrochemical, or related industries.
• 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate (with firing time) or higher.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Demonstrated ability to respond effectively to process upsets and operational challenges.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
• Legal authorization to work in Canada.

Preferred

• Environmental Operators Certification Level 2.
• Commissioning and start-up experience.
• NFPA 1001, NFPA 1081, or other emergency response certifications.
• Experience working in large-scale energy or industrial processing facilities.

• Ability to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

• Ability to safely lift and carry up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
• Ability to wear respiratory protection and Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).
• Willingness to participate in an Emergency Response Team program and complete required fitness assessments.
• Successful completion of pre-employment medical and substance testing requirements.
