Job summary

FortisBC is seeking an LNG Electrical & Instrumentation Technician for the Tilbury LNG Facility in Delta, BC. The role requires dual tickets and a strong safety mindset to support the LNG expansion.

You will directly influence operation and maintenance of electrical, instrumentation and control systems, with duties spanning installation, programming, troubleshooting and documentation. We value experience with DCS/PLC, process instrumentation, and a proactive maintenance approach in a high-stakes

Qualifications

  • Dual ticket or equivalent: Instrumentation/Control Tech or Instrument Technologist with Industrial Electrician ticket.
  • At least 3 years as industrial Electrician, high voltage, UPS, MCCs etc.
  • 3+ years experience with process plant equipment, DCS/PLC and instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation, electronics and computer applications.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Field Safety Representative A certification.
  • Proven safe work habits and adherence to safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical, instrumentation and controls work at LNG facilities, including installation, programming, activation, troubleshooting, operation and maintenance.
  • Develop and maintain predictive and preventive maintenance schedules; document construction, inspection, commissioning, operation and maintenance work.
  • Maintain knowledge of new technology related to LNG equipment; update skills accordingly.
  • Provide direction to employees and external contractors as needed.
  • Assist in project planning and execute plans at the plant site.
  • May provide on-call/standby coverage.

Position Overview

Responsibilities
  • Perform duties associated with electrical, instrumentation and controls related to and/or located at designated Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facilities, including but not limited to, the installation, programming, activation, troubleshooting, operation and maintenance of electrical, electronic, instrumentation, control, communication, and computer equipment.
  • Develop and maintain predictive analysis and preventative maintenance schedules. Prepare and provide comprehensive documentation of construction, inspection, commissioning, operation and maintenance work.
  • Maintain knowledge, skills and abilities in changing technology as it relates to equipment installed and/or available for LNG facilities.
  • Provide direction to other employees and/or external contractors as it relates to work performed at or in support of the plant.
  • Provide input into project planning as it relates to work performed at or in support of the plant and be responsible for execution of such plans.
  • May be required to provide on call/standby coverage.
Requirements
  • Dual ticket requirement of one of the following:
    • Instrumentation and Control Technician (Industrial Instrument Mechanic)andIndustrial Electrician Certificate of qualification;OR
    • Instrument TechnologistandIndustrial Electrician Certificate of qualification
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as an industrial Electrician in areas including, but not limited to 480V and higher; UPS systems for critical industrial infrastructure; supporting high voltage Substation equipment; supporting maintenance programs for electric drives and MCC's; and CSA Canadian Electrical Code;
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience with process plant equipment including, but not limited, to supporting DCS and PLC systems; process control logic programming; maintenance of pressure, temperature, level and flow instrumentation; supporting fire and gas detection systems; and supporting industrial ESD and interlocks.
  • Familiarity with current technological advancements in the areas of instrumentation, electronics and computer application as it relates to these fields.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Field Safety Representative A certification.
  • Demonstrated safe work habits and adherence to safety regulation and practices including codes, standards, procedures, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to make timely and appropriate decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in verbal, written and electronic form.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and without direct supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
Additional Information
  • This role has standby/on-call requirements based on operational needs (approximately once every 3-4 weeks)
  • This role is on a 10-hour, 4 days a week schedule (Monday to Thursday)
  • This role has a requirement to be clean shaven as per WCB standards
  • This role has out of town work/travel requirements based on operational needs
