Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Ontario is seeking an afternoon shift Production Supervisor to coordinate and direct the production staff, ensuring safety, quality, on‑time delivery and cost control. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will supervise day‑to‑day operations, enforce plant safety, maintain production records and inventory, and drive continuous improvement.

This role requires strong leadership, clear communication, and the ability to manage priorities on a 3:00pm–11:00pm schedule, Monday

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates daily activities by allocating work assignments and determining work distribution, setting priorities and leading the team.
  • Reassigns work to ensure uninterrupted service to customers.
  • Demonstrates and enforces plant safety regulations and housekeeping.
  • Identifies best practices and leads continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Evaluates employee performance through review of completed work.
  • Identifies training needs and ensures effective training.
  • Maintains production records, logs, and process controls.
  • Maintains material inventory levels and reconciles inventory.
  • Maintains knowledge of corrugated machinery and board grades.

Job Description

Reporting to the Production Manager, this position will serve as a first‑level Team Leader, coordinating and directing the work of the Production Staff.

The Production Supervisor resonates corporate/divisional goals and vision through clear and consistent communication demonstrating exemplary core behaviors and alignment with Safety and Culture principles. Possess a willing attitude, a sense of purpose and the flexibility to adapt to situational challenges.

The Supervisor will be responsible for managing the day‑to‑day operations of the shift and ensuring that all company standards and customer commitments (safety, quality, production, cost, on‑time delivery) are met. You will work in a collaborative environment and coordinate production operations and maintain effective quality procedures and safety regulations.

The current position is afternoon shift; Monday – Friday, 3:00pm – 11:00pm.

All candidates must pass a criminal background check and pre‑employment medical.

Job Duties
  • Coordinates daily activities by allocating work assignments and determining work distribution, setting priorities and leading the team.
  • Reassigns work, as required, to ensure no interruption in service to customers.
  • Demonstrates & enforces plant safety regulations, housekeeping and engages employees to become safety conscious.
  • Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks, raise safety awareness, and improve safe work practices.
  • Evaluates and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques.
  • Identifies staff development and training needs, documents training and ensures that training is effective.
  • Maintain proper production records and logs ensuring process controls are in place & are effective.
  • Maintain proper material inventory levels, initiate purchase orders and reconcile inventory.
  • Maintains knowledge of corrugated and converting machinery and equipment and board grades.
Job Qualifications
