Job summary

Norwood Windows & Doors in Scoudouc, NB, is seeking a Production Supervisor to oversee the wooden components production, assembly, and process improvements, ensuring quality and schedule adherence. You will supervise a team, coordinate training, manage timesheets, enforce safety rules, and drive lean initiatives with a focus on equipment optimization and cost reduction.

  • Minimum 3-5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing or wood products.
  • Experience with safety compliance and procedures in industrial environments is a plus.
  • Proven experience in production supervision with focus on equipment optimization and efficiency.
  • Knowledge of window/door assembly and woodworking processes is an asset.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee production of wooden components and assembly for doors and windows to meet quality and schedules.

  • Lead, coach, and motivate a production team and conduct regular training.
  • Track timesheets, vacations, and attendance in HRIS; enforce company policies.
  • Maintain quality control measures and collaborate with Operations Leaders to improve product quality.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance to address equipment issues and minimize downtime.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing techniques to improve productivity and reduce lead times.

Reporting to the Director of Norwood Production

Norwood Windows & Doors, a Division of West-Wood Industries, is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Production Supervisor.

This key leadership role is dedicated to overseeing the production process, with a particular focus on product assembly, component preparation, equipment optimization, maintenance, and operational efficiencies. Preference will be given to candidates with window & door assembly, woodworking experience or a demonstrated aptitude for woodworking processes.

Location: Scoudouc, New Brunswick (in person)
Responsibilities:
Production Oversight:
  • Manage and supervise the production of wooden components and component assembly for doors and windows to meet quality standards and production schedules.
  • Implement and optimize production processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Employee Supervision:
  • Lead, coach and motivate a team of production employees in their daily tasks and assignments according to their defined roles and responsibilities, while ensuring a positive and productive work environment.
  • Conduct regular training sessions to enhance the skills and knowledge of the production team.
  • Track and maintain employee timesheets, missed time and vacation in the HRIS system.
  • Actively communicate and enforce Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Ensure all non-conformance is challenged and corrective action is determined, implemented and tracked.
Quality Assurance:
  • Implement and maintain quality control measures throughout the production process.
  • Work closely with the Operations Leaders, Production Supervisors, Sales, Engineering, and Production Coordinator teams to address issues and continuously improve product quality.
Equipment Maintenance:
  • Adhere to the preventive maintenance schedule for all production equipment.
  • Report equipment issues and breakdowns to the Maintenance Department
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance Department and Production Manager to address issues promptly and minimize disruptions to production.
  • Analyze production workflows to identify and communicate issues, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.
  • Implement strategies to increase overall production efficiency and reduce lead times.
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing techniques to maintain and/or exceed the company’s targets in productivity, efficiency, and quality continuously.
Safety:
  • Primary responsibility: safely direct work assigned by the employer
  • Ensure employees comply with the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act and regulations
  • Take every reasonable precaution to ensure the health and safety of employees
  • Inform employees of the hazards associated with their work
  • Inform and instruct employees to ensure their safety
  • Enforce company safety rules, programs, codes of practice and procedures
  • Follow all safety rules
  • Participate in training
  • Report on hazards and injuries to the employer
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Collaborating with the Joint Health and Safety Committee to ensure production staff meet all safety measures and standards.
  • Conduct weekly Toolbox Talks with the production employees to discuss policy changes, safety reminders, upcoming events and other memos as communicated by upper management.
  • Complete hazard assessments as required
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
  • Post-secondary education in Manufacturing, Wood Products Processing, Business, Engineering Technology, or a related field is considered an asset.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or wood products environment.
  • Experience with safety compliance and procedures in industrial or manufacturing environments is an asset
  • Proven experience in production supervision, with a focus on equipment optimization and efficiency.
  • In-depth knowledge of production processes and quality control.
  • Experience with window and door assembly, industrial paint systems, woodworking, and machine operation (Carpentry, CNC, moulders, etc.) is an asset.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety regulations and practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and production reporting systems.
  • Mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing equipment operations.
