Job Summary:
This position is responsible for providing supervision and direction to all production staff on their designated shift.
Essential Functions of the Job:
• Supervision of production employees, successfully meeting production objectives, verification, and implementation of manufacturing procedures.
• Maintains a positive employee relations environment by communicating effectively with peers, employees, and managers.
• Achieves budgeted targets for raw material yield, labor, and packaging materials usage for shift.
• Schedule and conduct production meetings with shift personnel.
• Audits workstations to ensure SOPS are being followed routinely.
• Collaborate with warehouse and quality assurance personnel to ensure prompt shipment of product.
• Responsible for the complete and accurate reporting of shift production data.
• Maintain GMP/Housekeeping at a high level within the department through the involvement of all team members.
• Oversees and/or conducts shift training of new or existing employees.
• Drives productivity, quality, and safety initiatives throughout production to impact productivity and the cost structure.
• Supervisors are responsible for overseeing their team’s workflow, setting goals, communicating objectives, and monitoring performance, escalating matters requiring disciplinary action to the Production Manager and Human Resources Manager.
• Establish and support a work environment of continuous improvement that supports the companies Quality policy, Quality System & the appropriate regulations for the area.
• Communicate and execute the production schedule.
• Protect company assets by the direct intervention of any condition resulting in the abuse of equipment or buildings.
• Works with management to ensure effective organizational design and that roles are correctly organized, defined, documented, and communicated to all employees.
• Batch completion in Oracle
• Wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when required.
• Maintains a safe working environment by educating and directing employees on the use of equipment and resources while maintaining compliance with the OHSA, JHSC recommendations, company safety rules, GMP’s and HACCP, including documentation.
• Comply all SunOpta Quality and food safety standards, HACCP, GMPs, Organic, GFCO, SQF, Kosher certificate and customer requirements.
• Recognize, support, and commit to the company’s Food Safety guidelines and the facility Mission statement.
• The backup for this role is a Production Supervisor or the Production Manager.
• All other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Direct all hourly production personnel on designated shift. Rotating shift work required (rotation of midnights/afternoon/days). Weekend shifts required.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Certificate and/or bachelor’s degree in related fields of study preferred.
• Minimum of three consecutive years of related work experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidate must possess a strong working knowledge of manufacturing. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing practices is beneficial. Outstanding verbal, written, multi-tasking and presentation skills. Ability to create momentum and foster organizational change. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs.

• This position will be based at our St. Davids, Ontario, Canada facility.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Approximately 10% of work is done in an office environment; 90% of work involves being in the manufacturing environment.
