Job description

Gentek is a leading manufacturer and distributor of vinyl / aluminum siding and windows and other exterior home improvement products. With 3 manufacturing facilities and 22 distribution branches in Canada we are well-positioned to provide our customers with the best products and a superior service experience. We are looking for an experienced Production Supervisor to join the team at our vinyl siding manufacturing plant in Burlington.

Summary : Reporting to Plant Manager, the Production Supervisor will follow standard work procedures and ensure safety, quality, and productivity expectations in a fast paced, unionized, manufacturing environment while overseeing 30-35 unionized production employees. Objective is to ensure efficiency of production process in meeting quality, output, and safety targets by monitoring processes and employee performance.

Job Description

Safety :

• Ensure all employees are adhering to safe work procedures and policies
• Conduct weekly safety management audits
• Lead 5 why investigations
• Conduct monthly safety training

Quality :

• Assist Operators with identifying and solving quality issues
• Work with Quality Manager to solve quality issues
• Ensure employees are meeting test / reading requirements and respond to non-compliance

Employee Management :

• Responsible for management of employee timecards using ADP Workforce Now
• Daily hourly rotation scheduling of employees
• Coaching employees on job performance
• Actively involved in the discipline process with HR and Union
• Actively involved in investigations

Qualifications

• post-secondary education in manufacturing, operations, or related program an asset
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in unionized lean manufacturing environment
• Superior analytical skills
• Effective leadership, coaching and motivational skills
• Ability to drive and organize work
• Strong written and oral English communication skills
• MUST be able and willing to work weekly rotating shifts : Days (8am - 4pm), Afternoons (4pm - 12am), and Nights (12am - 8am),with the potential of 12-hour continental shift work.
