Job summary

Dynacast Peterborough is seeking a dedicated production planner/scheduler to manage planning, scheduling, and zinc inventories. You will coordinate capacity, manpower, and machine allocations to ensure on-time delivery and strong customer service.

The role requires 3–5 years in scheduling/manufacturing materials management, with experience in QAD or similar MRPs and proficiency in MS Office.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years Scheduling and/or Materials Management experience in manufacturing.
• Strong communication and analytical skills with ability to work under pressure.
• Experience with MRPs (QAD preferred) and MS Office products.

Responsibilities

• Develop rough-cut capacity plans, manpower plans, and machine allocations.
• Maintain shop calendar, department, work center and machine planning parameters.
• Lead Sales and Operations planning meetings with key customers.
• Monitor inventory planning parameters and production schedules.
• Resolve conflicts and coordinate tool room and production line schedules.
• Back up shift supervisors on End of Runs and manage capacity planning in QAD.

• 40 multi-slide proprietary zinc die casting machines ranging from 12 to 21 tons
• Five multi-slide proprietary zinc die casting machines ranging from 70 to 200 tons
• Injected Metal Assembly (IMA) up to one ton
• Precision tool building with in-house capabilities
• Design, prototyping, and modeling services
• Wide range of finishing surfaces available including tumbling, polishing, shot blasting and thermal de-burring
• Cosmetic or protective coating equipment either through certified suppliers or in-house
• Wide range of secondary operations including CNC machining, tapping, reaming, and drilling

About the Role:

Responsible for the planning, organizing, and scheduling of production and zinc inventories in a manner that effectively utilizes resources, and maintains a high level of on-time delivery and customer service.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Develop Rough Cut capacity plans, manpower plans, and machine allocations based on forecast and actual business;
• Maintain shop calendar, department, work center and machine planning parameters;
• Undertake Sales and Operations plan meetings with key customers in a timely and ongoing basis;
• Involvement in corrective actions as required;
• Publishes appropriate measures and charts;
• Monitors & updates Inventory Planning parameters, i.e. Order Policy, Order Period, Time Fence, Safety Stock, etc.;
• Monitors activities of Production Schedule, and helps resolve conflicts as required;
• Schedules all Casting Machines, and coordinates Tool Room schedules accordingly;
• Participates in contract review, and APQP activities, and coordinates the introduction of new products;
• Participates in the ongoing improvements to the manufacturing system;
• Provides new and revisions to IATF policies, procedures and desk instructions as required;
• Resolve conflicts as required;
• Reconciles and performs adjustments of WIP and Finished Goods Inventory;
• Sets up new parts, Bills of Materials, Routings and Production Lines in QAD business system;
• Backs up shift supervisors on End of Runs; and
• Manages Capacity Resource Planning (QAD).

Experience:

• Customer service oriented, with above average communication skills, capable of communicating with all levels of the organization;
• Above average analytical and problem solving skills;
• Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with a heavy workload;
• Sense of urgency required;
• Working knowledge of QAD or other MRP system (preferred) and Microsoft office products (Excel, Outlook)
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision;
• University or College graduate in Business, Engineering or Materials Management preferred;
• 3-5 years Scheduling and/or Materials Management experience, in a manufacturing environment.
