Job summary

Apex Industries in Moncton, NB is seeking a Production Process Planner to join the Aerospace Component Manufacturing Group on a full-time, permanent basis. You will create and maintain process routings from engineering drawings and manage material requisitions to ensure on-time production.

You will work closely with Customer Service, Manufacturing, Methods, Quality and Procurement, with training provided. Weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a machine shop/manufacturing environment is an asset.
  • Experience with Syspro ERP or knowledge of MRP functions.
  • Engineering technologist degrees or equivalent work experience in manufacturing/aerospace.
  • Proficient with MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint.
  • Highly organized and timeline driven.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Comfort with learning 3D CAD software (Catia, SolidWorks, AutoCAD).

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain process routings by extracting information from drawings and specs.
  • Ensure jobs are planned on time to customer order requirements.
  • Review First Article jobs and create first article inspection plans.
  • Requisition materials and hardware to maintain inventory levels.
  • Use APEXMRP system to launch jobs and requisitions.
  • Provide technical support to various departments.
  • Implement changes to process routings as needed.
  • Read and interpret customer/industry drawings.
  • Control drawings and specifications on servers and ERP system.

Position Overview

Are you looking to be part of a growing and developing team in an organization that values its people, customers, work, and supply chain? If so, APEX is currently accepting applications for a Production Process Planner within its Aerospace Component Manufacturing Group. This is a full-time, permanent position reporting to the Planning and Programming Supervisor.

The primary role of this position is to create and maintain process routings based on engineering specifications to instruct the various departments of the business unit. The Production Process Planner is also responsible for ensuring that all materials required for manufacturing are requisitioned to the purchasing department. Planners interact on a regular basis with Customer Service, Manufacturing, Methods, Quality and Procurement. Some weekend work or overtime may be required, and training will be provided.

Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain process routings (job travelers) by extracting pertinent information from the engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Ensure jobs are planned on time to customer order requirements, such as proper revision requirements.
  • Review First Article jobs and create first article inspection plans.
  • Requisition materials and hardware required to ensure proper inventory levels are maintained.
  • Utilize APEXMRP system to launch jobs and requisitions materials.
  • Provide technical support to the various departments in the group.
  • Implement changes to process routings when necessary.
  • Read and interpret customer/industry drawings and specifications.
  • Control of drawings and specifications on APEX's server and within APEX's ERP system.
Qualifications
  • Experience in a machine shop/manufacturing environment would be considered an asset.
  • Experience using Syspro ERP system or knowledge and experience using MRP functions.
  • One, or a combination of the following:
  • - Mechanical Engineering Technologist
  • - Industrial Engineering Technologist
  • - Equivalent work experience in manufacturing or in the Aerospace Industry
  • Training to be provided for planning function.
  • Very comfortable using computers and MS Word/Excel and Power Point.
  • Knowledgeable about manufacturing principles and concepts.
  • Highly organized and timeline driven.
  • Ability to participate in continuous process improvement and is open to change.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Efficient problem solver and decision maker
  • Ability to use or learn to use 3D CAD software (i.e. Catia, Solid Works, Auto Cad etc.).
