Job summary

Amhil North America is seeking a Production Packer to support high-quality packaging lines at our Mississauga facility. You will pack, seal, and inspect cartons, follow safety procedures, and maintain cleanliness on the line.

The role offers a 40-hour weekly schedule with weekend and weekday shifts, a unionized environment, and opportunities to grow with a team focused on quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Grade 10 or equivalent.
  • Ability to work effectively in a unionized environment.
  • Ability to understand English written and verbal instructions.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment (asset).
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Pack and tape boxes on the assigned position and ensure proper sealing.
  • Maintain sanitation and cleanliness standards on the line.
  • Check product quality at shift start, after changes, and during operation; alert Senior Packer on issues.
  • Ensure labels, date codes, and box seals are correctly applied.
  • Assist with line down situations and support other roles as needed.
  • Support training of new Packers as requested.

Shifts- This position follows a combination shift schedule that includes:

  • Weekend Shifts: Two 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
  • Weekday Shifts: Two 8-hour shifts on weekdays
  • Total scheduled hours: 40 hours per week
About the role

The Production Packer is responsible for packing the best quality and the highest quantity product on the line to which assigned.

Safety First!
  • Conduct all work in a safe manner — think Safety First!
  • Wear prescribed PPE when performing all jobs.
  • Be aware of hazards associated with each task and report any potential hazard, unsafe practices or working conditions.
What will you do
  • Pack and/or tape boxes at the assigned position.
  • Maintain personal and working sanitation standards as per established procedures / practices.
  • Check product quality at the start of your shift, after a change-over and/or when the line is down, and spot‑check all products thoroughly every 60 minutes throughout your shift to ensure product quality is within acceptable parameters (correct boxes, bags and bag tape, count /stack height, weight, forming, off centers, etc.) Inform the Senior Packer immediately of any quality issues.
  • Ensure date codes are legible, labels properly affixed and boxes taped straight, when performing box‑taping duties.
  • If there is uncertainty regarding product quality, the Senior Packer or Quality Assurance Technician on duty must be consulted.
  • Pack the correct product into the appropriate carton, ensuring the product is not forced into the carton and that sleeves do not stick out.
  • Ensure that the working area is kept clean, orderly and safe.
  • Assist with housekeeping, sanitation around the plant and the removal of scrap product and/or sheet from the line when requested.
  • If the line goes down during the shift, finish clearing the packing station and stay around the line for further instructions.
  • Assist with box taping, when requested.
  • Assist the Machine Operator when requested.
  • Assist the Quality Assurance Technician when requested, (for example, during re‑pack of product)
  • Assist in training new Packers when requested
What you need:
  • Grade 10 or equivalent
  • Ability to work effectively in a unionized environment.
  • Ability to understand English written and verbal instructions
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment (an asset)
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs.
