Job summary

Amhil North America is seeking a dedicated Process Operator to join our Mississauga operations. You’ll run production machinery for container lids, support line efficiency, and maintain safety and quality standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Ideal candidates have manufacturing experience, strong English communication, and the ability to complete documentation and checklists. Shift work includes a rotating schedule with day, afternoon, and night shifts.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Good communication skills in English.
  • Able to work in a unionized environment.
  • Physically capable to lift 35–40 lbs and stand long periods.
  • Willing to wear PPE and work in heat, humidity, and noisy conditions.
  • Must complete a Mechanical Comprehension assessment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate production machinery and monitor line performance.
  • Maintain cleanliness, safety, and quality on the line.
  • Complete checklists, labels, and reports accurately.
  • Assist with material handling and changeovers as needed.
  • Identify and report equipment or process issues promptly.
  • Support preventative maintenance activities as required.

Shifts - 8 hr (7am-3pm/3pm-11pm/11pm-7am) 2 week rotation.

About the role

The Process Operator operates different types of production machinery involved in the manufacture of container lids.

This role allows you to operate different areas of the production line supporting production levels and quality of output, meet the team production targets, while ensuring a safe work environment for all.

A mechanical technical aptitude assessment must be completed to determine which machinery you will support.

Safety First!
  • Conduct all work in a safe manner — think Safety First!
  • Wear prescribed PPE when performing all jobs.
  • Be aware of hazards associated with each task and report any potential hazard, unsafe practices or working conditions.
What will you do?
  • Ensure all scrap product and sheet material is removed from the lines, ground up and that regrind material is consumed within allowable limits.
  • Roll and feed sheets into canopy, trim press and thermoformer.
  • Refill greasers, oilers and distilled water tanks and complete equipment checklists.
  • Maintain tight control of all materials and keep all forms of waste to a minimum.
  • Responsible to ensure that all the necessary equipment, process, quality and sanitation checks are conducted as per established procedures.
  • Monitor process and product quality to ensure products are produced within control parameters. Complete check sheets.
  • Complete all SPC requirements at the prescribed frequency and take corrective actions, as outlined in procedures.
  • Ensure material blends are correct and in control.
  • Trouble-shoot and adjust as needed to maintain the highest quality yield at all times.
  • Trouble-shoot loaders
  • Conduct and ensure preventative maintenance is performed as per established schedules, procedures & practices.
  • Identify equipment maintenance issues that require attention (ex. worn bushings, loose/missing guards, leaks, etc.)
  • Alert supervision, maintenance and/or technical support if anything requires attention.
  • Know where all emergency stops are located and check fire extinguishers on the line once per shift.
  • Move finished product into the appropriate location in the Warehouse and generate license plate.
  • Assist Packers during changeovers. Watch for mixed product. Assist with box taping and movement of finished product as required.
  • Ensure that the working area is kept clean, orderly and safe. Ensure garbage is dumped, area cleaned and garbage cans returned to their proper location in the production area.
  • Other related duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
What you need:
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred) or technical education (degree/diploma) equivalent.
  • Good communication skills (able to understand written and verbal instructions in English).
  • Ability to work effectively in a unionized environment.
  • Solid computer proficiency.
  • Able to clearly fill out labels, reports, and checklists.
  • Must be flexible to work different work schedules as required as work assignments will change and opportunity to complete work may require a shift change.
  • Must be willing to work in a Manufacturing/Production environment with areas of heat and humidity, dust and high noise levels.
  • Must be willing to wear all required protective equipment.
  • Able to lift 35-40 lbs on a regular basis and stand for long periods of time.
  • Familiar with Amhil products or plastic thermoforming processes an asset.
  • All successful applicants must complete and pass a Mechanical Comprehension assessment.
