Position Overview :

The Production Manager (Night Shift) is a versatile, hands-on leader overseeing night-shift production operations alongside other current production management staff. In this role, you’ll manage the end-to-end processing, packaging, and dispatching of customer orders, ensuring accuracy and high-quality presentation.

Responsibilities include oversight of production, inventory management, loading operations, and effective communication with team members and external contacts. The ideal candidate is tech-savvy, proficient in Excel, skilled in email communication, and comfortable using digital tools for operational management.

During the slower summer months (July and August), vacation time is encouraged, and role offers flexibility to pursue Kaizen improvements, implement 5S organizational methods, and help oversee expansion projects. The candidate should demonstrate adaptability, proactivity, and potential to grow into increasingly significant responsibilities, with a potential career path leading to a director-level role.

Key Responsibilities :

Order Management and Line Process :

  • Review orders and logistics at the start of the shift, and ensure orders are prepped by the logistics team and printed in the order of picking.
  • Oversee the flow, address bottlenecks, and ensure smooth operations throughout the night, ensuring orders are double-checked, boxed, labelled, and loaded by scheduled departure time.
  • Achieve production goals and ensure orders are picked in advance of scheduled departure time.

Employee Management :

  • Schedule and manage an efficient team, ensuring high productivity. Train and mentor production staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.

Quality Control and Compliance :

  • Conduct regular inspections and quality checks, ensuring compliance with company policies and health and safety regulations.

Presentation and Accuracy :

  • Ensure all orders are presented impeccably and accurately, reflecting the high standards of Produce Express.
  • Promote a culture focused on teamwork, care, and support for employees. Company core values include People, Passion, Positivity, Professionalism, and Punctuality.

Qualifications :

  • Leadership experience or validated ability is a must.
  • Experience in a production or manufacturing management role, preferably in the food industry.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Knowledge of production processes, quality control, and safety regulations is an asset.
  • Strong team management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work night shifts and commit to working Saturdays.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday : 12 am-9 am.
  • Mondays, Tuesdays, Saturdays are busiest, so could be longer days, Thursday and Friday could be shorter days.
  • Sunday and Wednesday off.

Compensation & Benefits :

  • 80,000 - commensurate with experience
