Description at Lufa Farms highlights our mission to build a better food system through responsible urban farming, including the construction of the world’s first commercial rooftop greenhouse in 2011 and the largest less than a decade later. We operate six high-tech urban farms in Montreal, growing a variety of crops, and seek a Production Manager to oversee cultivation and operations activities at one or more sites, depending on experience and needs.

The Production Manager will manage budgets and all cultivation activities, establishing processes for climate control, irrigation, pest management, crop planning, yield and quality, team training, R&D, and operational costs, with support from technical advisors and the operations team.

Our ideal candidate is organized, caring, hardworking, motivated to change urban eating habits, and applies data-driven decision-making, operational excellence, and collaboration skills. Candidates should have experience in commercial greenhouses or agriculture, with a background in horticulture, engineering, or relevant sciences.

Responsibilities

1. Oversee plant science and cultivation strategies, managing budgets for site(s).
2. Manage operations team, ensuring task completion, coaching, and support.
3. Establish practices for efficient production and operations.
4. Continuously improve and maximize greenhouse production.
5. Ensure site maintenance and crop success, with support as needed.
6. Develop and report KPIs on yield, quality, waste, costs, and productivity.
7. Maintain a culture of inclusion and operational excellence.

Requirements

• Minimum five years’ experience in commercial greenhouse or agriculture operations.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Access to a car and valid driver’s license for Montreal area sites.
• Proficiency with Google Suite or similar software.

Schedule

Full-time, 40-45 hours/week, with some outside or weekend hours expected.
