Job summary

Agropur Cooperative is seeking a Production Director to lead all manufacturing operations and sanitation activities at the Saint-Laurent plant. You will drive efficient production methods, ensure product quality, and push continuous optimization to meet profitability targets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the food or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Minimum 5 years in an operations or production management role.
  • Experience in a unionized environment.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of SQF, HACCP, GMP and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven experience leading CI, operational excellence, and performance management initiatives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in French and English (English required to collaborate across Canada).

Responsibilities

  • Lead all production operations to meet objectives related to safety, quality, service, cost, environment, and operational excellence.
  • Supervise and coach Production Coordinators and Supervisors in operations and team performance.
  • Foster accountability and continuous improvement across the organization.
  • Provide leadership in health and safety initiatives and ensure policy compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to quality, sanitation, food safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Drive performance through management of key metrics (SQCDME) and corrective actions.
  • Optimize use of resources to maximize efficiency and meet budget targets.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity and reduce waste.
  • Develop talent and leadership within managers and supervisors.
  • Build partnerships across functions and act as change leader for strategic priorities.

Agropur is looking for a Production Director to join is St-Laurent team. The Production Director is responsible for leading and overseeing all manufacturing operations and sanitation activities within the plant. The role ensures the implementation of efficient production methods to achieve profitability targets, maintain product quality standards, and drive continuous optimization of production processes. The Production Director plays a key leadership role in fostering a performance-driven culture while ensuring compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.

Salary range 007: 118,000$ to 147,500$ (Salary will be determined based on skills, education, training & experience related to the position).

  • Provide leadership in health and safety initiatives and ensure compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to quality, sanitation, food safety, and regulatory standards while promoting a strong quality culture throughout the plant.
  • Drive performance through the effective management of key operational metrics (SQCDME), ensuring rigorous follow-up on action plans and implementation of corrective measures.
  • Optimize the use of human, material, and financial resources to maximize operational efficiency and achieve budgetary targets.
  • Lead continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives aimed at increasing productivity, reducing waste, and enhancing overall plant performance.
  • Develop talent, support succession planning, and strengthening the leadership capabilities of managers and supervisors.
  • Build strong partnerships across functions and act as a change leader in support of the organization’s strategic priorities.

  • Proven experience leading continuous improvement, operational excellence, and performance management initiatives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both French and English (English is required to collaborate with colleagues across Canada).
