Job summary

Jacobs & Thompson Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Production Coordinator to support daily manufacturing operations in Ontario, Canada.

You will ensure production schedules are met, coordinate materials and labor resources, and maintain accurate inventory, acting as a liaison between production, inventory control, purchasing, and logistics for on-time delivery. The role emphasizes forecasting, scheduling, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production coordination role.
  • Strong understanding of production workflows and inventory management systems (ERP/MRP).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; ERP software experience preferred (Dynamics 365 is a strong asset).
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Forecast, plan, schedule, and coordinate production activities to meet demand and delivery timelines.
  • Coordinate daily production schedules with cross-functional teams including purchasing, logistics, QA.
  • Monitor progress and adjust schedules to accommodate delays or changes in priorities.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, team leads and engineers to optimize resource allocation.
  • Maintain and update production records, job orders, and work instructions.
  • Coordinate with purchasing to reorder materials based on thresholds.
  • Create rolling forecasts for short, medium, and long-term planning.
  • Support MRP by ensuring raw materials are available per forecasts.
  • Prepare and present daily/weekly production reports.
  • Communicate with QA, procurement, logistics and maintenance; support continuous improvement.

Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Production Coordinator to support daily manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will ensure production schedules are met, coordinate material and labor resources, and maintain accurate inventory levels. This role acts as a key liaison between production, inventory control, purchasing, and logistics teams to ensure seamless workflow and on-time delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
Production Coordination:
  • Forecast, Plan, schedule, and coordinate production activities to meet customer demand and delivery timelines.
  • Coordinate daily production schedules and communicate with cross-functional teams (purchasing, logistics, quality control, etc.
  • Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed to accommodate delays or changes in priorities.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, team leaders, and engineers to ensure optimal resource allocation.
  • Maintain and update production records, job orders, and work instructions.
  • Coordinate with the purchasing team to reorder materials based on production needs and inventory thresholds.
  • Create rolling forecasts for short, medium, and long-term production planning.
  • Adjust production schedules proactively based on forecast updates, inventory levels, and lead times.
  • Support Material Requirements Planning (MRP) by ensuring raw materials are available in accordance with production forecasts.
Communication & Reporting:
  • Prepare and present daily/weekly production reports.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams including quality assurance, procurement, logistics, and maintenance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to production efficiency.
Compliance & Safety:
  • Ensure all production activities comply with company policies, quality standards, and safety regulations.
  • Identify and escape any production or inventory-related issues promptly.
Qualifications:
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production coordination role.
  • Strong understanding of production workflows and inventory management systems (e.g., ERP/MRP).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with ERP software preferred, with Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience considered a strong asset.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
