Job summary

Eaton in Delta, British Columbia, is seeking a Production Assistant to interpret manufacturing documents and mechanically assemble prefabricated parts for site product lines. The role reports to the Satellite Plant Manager and supports multiple departments including Engineering, Sales, and Customer Service.

The position runs 7:00 am to 3:30 pm with a pay rate of CAD 20 per hour. Prior experience in fabrication/assembly and lean manufacturing is preferred; a High School Diploma is required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.
  • Six months probation or equivalent experience.
  • Basic to intermediate MS Office and database management.
  • 2 years fabrication/assembly experience.
  • 1 year Lean Manufacturing experience.
  • Lean manufacturing implementation and continuous improvement techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble basic panelboards, switchboards, and control assemblies.
  • Interpret manufacturing information to assemble parts and sub-assemblies.
  • Perform labeling, testing, and prepare for shipping.
  • Follow written or verbal instructions and 5S principles.
  • Collaborate with teammates and provide guidance as needed.
  • Ensure safety and quality requirements are met.

Job description

Eaton’s ES AMER PCS division is currently seeking a Production Assistant. Our Delta-Satellite is a key hub office for Eaton's electrical sector in Canada, located in Delta, British Columbia. This central location hosts essential departments such as Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, and Customer service. The Delta site is designed to support a collaborative and innovative work environment. Its proximity to major highways and public transportation provides convenient access for commuting professionals, while nearby parks, rivers, and recreational facilities offer options for relaxation and wellness.

The hours for this positon are 7am to 3:30pm. The pay is $20 an hour.

What You’ll Do
Primary Function

Reporting to the Satellite Plant Manager, this position interprets the Manufacturing Information documents in order to mechanically assemble, fit and install prefabricated parts or modify basic components, sub-assemblies and structures using hand and power tools for the site product lines.

Responsibilities
  • Some manufacturing and electrical knowledge and experience.
  • Works in all departments assisting in any capacity with supervision.
  • Expected to produce basic panelboards, switchboards, and control assemblies as required.
  • Expected to understand the order, drawing, material and inventory processes.
  • Able to complete the assembly, label, basic testing and quality checks and prepare for shipping.
  • Work from written or verbal instructions from site leadership, system generated picking documents and established work routines.
  • Provide input and recommendations to improve effectiveness of work area.
  • Provide assistance and guidance to co-workers as required.
  • Effectively dispose of scrap material.
  • Maintain Daily 5S responsibilities.
  • Flexible to work overtime.
Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma.
  • completed six (6) months’ probation or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic to Intermediate computer skills including MS Office and database management.
  • 2 years’ experience in a fabrication/assembly environment.
  • 1 years’ experience in Lean Manufacturing implementation and continuous improvement techniques.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Good leadership skills and able to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Good problem-solving abilities.
  • Intermediate computer skills including familiarity with databases.
  • Good understanding of safety requirements
  • Ability to multi-task and get results with a sense of urgency.
