About the role

We offer an exciting opportunity to be a Product Developer - Optical Engineer based in Boisbriand with Signify. Your responsibilities include:

1. Performing optical expertise through modeling, simulations, measurements, and interpreting results.
2. Designing general assembly drawings, prototype models, and photometric simulations.
3. Drafting optical technical requirements and specifications for product charters.
4. Establishing timelines and budgets for developing new optical products and creating detailed 2D/3D drawings for manufacturing, ensuring precision.
5. Coordinating validation tests by defining testing plans and facilitating reviews with peers, stakeholders, and experts.
6. Acting as a liaison between the global platform team and R&D regarding optical platforms.
7. Maintaining and developing expertise in photometric design aligned with business needs.
8. Building and promoting relationships with industry associations and standards organizations such as IES, NEMA, DOE, and IDA.
9. Participating actively in the optical community.

Candidate profile

While all applicants are valued, the ideal candidate will have:

• A recent degree in physics, optical engineering, or equivalent, or 1-3 years of experience in product design within manufacturing.
• At least 1 year of practical experience with optical design and 3D modeling software (preferably Lightools, SolidWorks, Agi32).
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as rapid prototyping, injection molding, properties of plastics, and LEDs.
• The ability to develop concepts that integrate aesthetics, ergonomics, and functionality, considering manufacturing standards and lighting constraints.
• Strong communication skills, independence, creativity, leadership, and organizational skills.
