Job description

Belonging to Air Canada is akin to belonging to a Canadian symbol, Air Canada recently voted best airline in North America. Take your career to new heights by joining our innovative and diverse team at the forefront of passenger air transport.

At Air Canada, we are committed to redefining the travel experience through innovative technologies and smooth, efficient product delivery. As we continue to strengthen our position as a global leader, we are looking for a Product Delivery Specialist to join our dynamic IT Products team in Montreal.

This role is essential to ensure the predictable delivery of complex features related to distribution platforms, notably New Distribution Capability (NDC), B2B solutions, and payment solutions, while ensuring their alignment with strategic priorities. As a key member of the Product team, the Product Delivery Specialist works closely with Product Management and Engineering teams to coordinate the integrated delivery of features spanning multiple PODs, systems, business functions, operational teams, suppliers, and external partners.

If you thrive in fast-paced environments, excel in influential leadership, and wish to contribute to delivering world-class digital experiences to travelers, this opportunity will allow you to play a meaningful role in Air Canada's transformation.

Responsibilities
  • Feature Delivery Management
    • Lead the end-to-end delivery of complex features, from planning to release, stabilization, and transition to operations, while ensuring alignment with product strategy, customer value, and business goals.
    • Develop and maintain an integrated delivery plan covering scope, milestones, responsibilities, dependencies, risks, decisions, testing, release readiness, and operational activities.
    • Coordinate delivery across multiple PODs, technology platforms, business functions, operational teams, suppliers, and external partners when a feature exceeds the scope of the main Product team.
    • Collaborate with the Product Manager and Engineering Lead to translate product priorities into clear and achievable delivery commitments aligned with POD capacity, technical feasibility, sequencing, and business priorities.
    • Establish clear accountability among participating teams and ensure that required product, technology, business, operations, and partner activities are identified, assigned, and completed.
    • Lead cross-functional check-ins for complex features, focusing on milestone alignment, dependency resolution, readiness, decisions, and delivery confidence, without duplicating regular POD ceremonies.
  • Dependency, Risk, and Decision Management
    • Proactively identify and manage dependencies between teams, systems, business functions, operations, suppliers, and partners that could impact delivery.
    • Maintain an integrated view of delivery-related risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, capacity constraints, and key decisions.
    • Foster rapid obstacle resolution and elevate significant risks by clearly presenting their impact, options, recommendation, and required decision.
    • Ensure that any changes to scope, sequencing, timeline, or technical approach are reflected across all relevant delivery and readiness plans.
  • Release and Operational Readiness
    • Plan and manage integrated release timelines based on the Product roadmap, POD delivery plans, partner commitments, operational constraints, and business priorities.
    • Coordinate readiness between Product, Engineering, Architecture, Quality Assurance, Cybersecurity, Operations, Implementation, Business, and external partners.
    • Facilitate readiness reviews and go/no-go release or postponement decisions, ensuring testing, documentation, approvals, deployment planning, communications, training, business process changes, support procedures, monitoring, and contingency plans are complete.
    • Ensure affected business and operational teams understand feature changes, customer or partner impacts, support requirements, and escalation processes prior to launch.
    • Coordinate the release, post-launch stabilization, issue tracking, partner rollout, and handover to operational and support teams.
  • Stakeholder Leadership and Delivery Governance
    • Act as the central delivery coordination point for assigned complex features and maintain alignment between Product, Technology, Business, Operations, suppliers, and partners.
    • Establish governance adapted to feature complexity, focusing on accountability, decision-making, risk management, and obstacle resolution.
    • Provide stakeholders and management with concise, transparent updates on progress, milestones, dependencies, risks, decisions, required actions, and delivery confidence level.
    • Manage stakeholder expectations and facilitate alignment when priorities, scope, timelines, capacity, or cross-team commitments require resolution.
    • Maintain delivery dashboards and governance tools using agreed-upon tools and reliable source data.
  • POD Support and Continuous Improvement
    • Support the Product Manager and Engineering Lead in aligning roadmap priorities, feature sequencing, delivery milestones, and release plans.
    • Ensure features are sufficiently defined and ready for delivery, notably regarding scope, business requirements, acceptance criteria, dependencies, and testing considerations.
    • Identify recurring delivery obstacles and recommend improvements to enhance POD flow, predictability, quality, and efficiency.
    • Track relevant delivery metrics, including milestone predictability, dependency resolution, readiness, release quality, and stabilization results.
    • Promote reusable delivery practices, readiness checklists, lessons learned, and continuous improvement within the Product team.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, technology management, product management, engineering, or a related field; a master's degree is an asset.
  • Experience leading complex product delivery initiatives, release management, product operations, or cross-functional technological initiatives within a complex organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate delivery across Product, Engineering, Architecture, Quality Assurance, Operations, business teams, suppliers, and external partners.
  • Good understanding of product delivery cycles, Agile and iterative delivery practices, product backlog management, dependency management, and release readiness.
  • Demonstrated experience managing integrated plans, delivery risks, decisions, stakeholder expectations, and executive communications.
  • Knowledge of NDC, airline industry systems, travel technologies, APIs, integrations, or payment platforms is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow, dashboards, or equivalent delivery and collaboration tools.
  • Knowledge of security, privacy, accessibility, compliance, and regulatory considerations applicable to airline, distribution, or payment platforms.
  • Excellent leadership, facilitation, communication, stakeholder management, negotiation, and influencing skills, including the ability to lead without direct hierarchical authority.
  • Excellent organizational and collaboration skills, strong results orientation, and comfort managing ambiguity and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid technical aptitude to understand APIs, integrations, system dependencies, environments, and release readiness considerations.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving, good judgment, strong attention to detail, a mindset focused on continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrate punctuality and reliability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
Conditions of Employment:

Candidates must be eligible to work in the concerned country at the time an offer of employment is presented and are responsible for obtaining work permits, visas, or other necessary authorizations. Proof of eligibility must be provided before the start date.
