We're helping The Land Administration Company find a Product Architect — find their post below!

Product Architect

About The Land Administration Company: The Land Administration Company (LAC) is a Canadian-owned and operated organization delivering innovative, world-class land administration solutions to governments and jurisdictions across the globe. With a proven track record of success and a team deeply experienced in land management projects, we are committed to driving positive, long-lasting social, economic, and environmental outcomes.

At LAC, we believe in harnessing the power of cutting-edge technology, offering new employees the chance to develop in-demand skills that are shaping the future of land administration. Joining our team means becoming part of a purpose-driven organization where your work can make a real difference—from promoting minority rights and reducing poverty to tackling environmental challenges.

Why Work with Us?

  • Innovation at the Core: We utilize leading-edge technologies, allowing you to develop highly sought-after skills in a dynamic, forward-thinking environment.
  • Global Impact: You'll have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that help countries and citizens secure land rights and drive positive societal change.
  • Mission-Driven Work: Be part of a team focused on empowering nations and communities to achieve long-term social, economic, and environmental sustainability.
  • Collaborative Culture: Work alongside best-in-class partners and professionals who are passionate about making an impact and bringing innovative solutions to life.

If you're passionate about technology, social change, and working on impactful global projects, we want to hear from you.

About the Role: We’re looking for an experienced Product Architect to join our platform development team. In this role you’ll leverage your background and experience in developing detailed specifications and solutions, balancing cutting edge technical work with client and market needs.

We work with a global team, and as such, our team works flexible hours to support colleagues and clients in India and Northern Ireland.

You will become deeply familiar with our platform’s features and data model. This is not a software development role, but your technical skills will allow you to bridge the gap between development teams, product definition and customer-facing/domain understanding. As we expand our product offerings, your experience will help guide new features and improvements, keeping our solutions aligned with evolving customer needs and market trends.

Your role will also involve gathering and interpreting inputs from customers, potential clients, and industry trends, while collaborating with internal teams to ensure that our products stay relevant and innovative in the land administration domain. With our current focus on spatial solutions, and potential future product shifts, this is an ideal role for someone with curiosity to explore new directions and learn more about GIS tools.

This role reports to the Chief Product Officer.

This is a remote job for people currently located in Canada. LAC is unable to provide any sponsorship and applicants must be able to work in Canada for any employer in a full-time capacity without sponsorship. Due to the nature of the work, background checks will be required.

  • $100,000 - $150,000 annual salary
  • Remote within Canada (our ideal candidate has the flexibility & maturity to manage a schedule that includes occasional virtual and in-person collaboration with teams in PST, India, and Northern Ireland)
  • Five weeks of paid PTO annually

What you’ll be doing…

  • Become an expert in our LAVA platform for land administration solutions, with an initial focus on the spatial features.
  • Collaborate with leadership and development teams to define and maintain the product roadmap, aligning it with customer needs, market trends, and business objectives.
  • Translate customer, market, and stakeholder requirements into detailed technical specifications and solutions that development teams can implement effectively.
  • Author effective test plans to assist the development and quality assurance teams in verifying functional and performance requirements are met.
  • Act as a liaison between customers, potential clients, and internal teams, ensuring clear communication of user needs and ensuring the product's market fit.
  • Understand the software architecture, database structures, and the overall technical design of the platform to bridge the gap between internal technical teams and customer and domain requirements.
  • Work closely with the product owner and development team to prioritize features, enhancements, and bug fixes based on client feedback, market needs, and product strategy.
  • Engage with customers to gather feedback, understand their workflows, and incorporate user input into the product development process to improve usability and satisfaction.
  • Monitor and adapt to changes in the geospatial domain and other emerging product areas as the company grows, remaining flexible and curious in exploring new opportunities for feature development.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and reports that clearly communicate impact.
  • Provide on-site support as needed for clients, ensuring smooth project delivery and addressing technical challenges.
  • Mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of learning and technical excellence.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align initiatives with company strategy and growth objectives.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing across teams to enhance overall product functionality and client satisfaction.
  • WordPress
  • GeoServer
  • Kogito business rules server
  • Angular 17
  • Web based spatial data GIS using OpenLayers
  • Serverless Postgres database with PostGIS
  • AWS infrastructure

What you bring…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent working experience
  • Progressive experience as an Architect with a track record of successfully developed products or platforms
  • Experience writing business & development specifications, as well as test strategies
  • A strong technical engineering and software development background and understanding
  • A strong understanding of system architectures
  • Experience or curiosity in the geospatial industry
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating with technical and non-technical teams
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • A high degree of autonomy and the ability to work with a global team
  • A high degree of user empathy
  • Initiative to work well in a remote and autonomous environment
  • The ability to pass a background check and security clearance, if necessary
