Job summary

Safeway in Hamilton is hiring a Produce Clerk to help customers find fresh produce and keep the department well stocked. Full training is provided, and you'll play a key role in delivering a quick, easy shopping experience.

You should be able to work evenings and weekends, lift up to 20 pounds, and be a friendly, reliable team member focused on safety and great service.

Responsibilities

• Upholds company procedures, standards and policies.
• Greets customers in a polite and friendly manner.
• Demonstrates strong customer service per Safeway programs.
• Stock produce and related products on shelves (frozen, perishable, non-perishables).
• Maintains and builds merchandise displays per Safeway programs.
• Rotates products to ensure quality.
• Loads/unloads products for the sales floor.
• Backroom and inventory management.
• Operates cash register as needed during peak hours.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

A day in the life of a Produce Clerk: As a customer yourself, you know how important it is to find exactly the produce you are looking for. Maintaining a well-stocked department so that the customer shopping experience is quick, easy and efficient is the key to building loyalty. That is why our Produce Clerks play such an important role in the success of our stores. Full training is provided for this position.

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with Safeway's programs
• Stocking produce and related product to shelves such as (Frozen, perishable and non-perishables)
• Maintaining and building merchandise displays in compliance with Safeway programs
• Rotation of product
• Loading and unloading of product for the sales floor
• Backroom and inventory management
• Operating a cash register as needed for relief during peak business hours
• Any other duties as assigned by the Store Manager
