Job summary

TRIUMF, Canada’s national laboratory for particle and nuclear physics, invites applications for a procurement student role on the Procurement team located at Vancouver, BC. The student will process Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders, assist with supplier qualification, and help ensure compliance and timely delivery of goods.

The ideal candidate is currently enrolled in a post-secondary program with interest in Supply Chain or Procurement, and possesses strong MS Office skills, numeracy,

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program.
  • Preference will be given to students studying Supply Chain, Procurement, Business Admin, Operations Management, Commerce, or related field.
  • Previous experience in supply chain, procurement, administration, customer service, or project coordination is an asset.
  • Preference will be given to students available for an 8-month work term.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Procurement team.
  • Maintain accurate contractual records, documentation, and related correspondence.
  • Assist with supplier qualification and evaluation processes.
  • Support procurement compliance activities.
  • Help qualify and onboard new suppliers.
  • Process Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders.
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure timely delivery of quality products and services.
  • Participate in competitive bidding and contract review activities.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to support organizational goals.

TRIUMF’s student program typically hires ~40 students each term from across all disciplines who hang together socially and professionally during the term, and beyond. Our program offers young minds a chance to gather, learn, make new friends, and have fun doing so during their time at TRIUMF. We hold weekly ProD sessions for students which include different activities such as conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and active listening. Additionally, we hold weekly seminars about the different experiments at TRIUMF, and these talks specifically cater to students. Located on the UBC campus makes it easier for students to make friends, create memories, and explore Vancouver all while working at TRIUMF. TRIUMF’s student program is more than just a place to work, its learning, memories, friendships, exploration, and development all clubbed into one.

Overview

As a member of the Procurement team, the student will play a key role in supporting the processing of Purchase Requisitions, assisting with purchasing compliance, and contributing to a variety of procurement‑related administrative tasks—both routine and non‑routine in nature.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Procurement team.
  • Maintain accurate contractual records, documentation, and related correspondence.
  • Assist with supplier qualification and evaluation processes.
  • Support procurement compliance activities.
  • Help qualify and onboard new suppliers.
  • Process Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders.
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure timely delivery of quality products and services.
  • Participate in competitive bidding and contract review activities.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with internal teams to support organizational goals.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong numerical aptitude and attention to accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and composed under pressure.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Workday) is an asset.
  • Creative thinking and problem‑solving skills are a plus.
  • Prior knowledge or experience in the supply chain field is beneficial, but not required.

TRIUMF, Canada's national laboratory for particle and nuclear physics, is situated on the vibrant south campus of the University of British Columbia, nestled within the beautiful Pacific Spirit Park in Vancouver, BC.

TRIUMF offers help with travel costs for students outside the Vancouver and surrounding area.

Applications closing date: September 01, 2026

Period of Work (possible 4 month extension): September 14, 2026-April 30, 2027

Salary is commensurate with academic progress and previous relevant work experience, and ranges from $ 2815 to $ 4238 per month including 4% vacation pay.
