Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Procurement Officer to lead our purchasing efforts for raw materials, general tools, equipment, safety materials, plant hardware, and other purchases. The Procurement Officer will ensure the timely availability of materials, maintain optimal inventory levels, and drive cost-effectiveness while adhering to quality standards. This role reports directly to the VP of Manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies for raw materials, tools, equipment, safety materials, and plant hardware, ensuring alignment with production needs and company objectives.
  • Identify, evaluate, and negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms for both routine purchases and specialized hardware.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels, including hardware and operational supplies, to ensure timely replenishment and prevent production disruptions.
  • Oversee inventory tracking for plant hardware and production materials, optimizing stock levels and conducting regular reviews for cost-effectiveness.
  • Analyze material costs and implement cost management strategies to optimize procurement expenditures, especially in high-use items like raw materials and hardware.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to define material specifications, quality requirements, and delivery timelines.
  • Conduct market research to stay informed about trends in pricing, availability, and emerging suppliers, focusing on both core materials and emerging hardware solutions.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, supplier performance, and inventory levels, with a focus on transparency and accountability.
  • Prepare and present quality assurance reports on supplier performance and material quality to the VP of Manufacturing.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and safety standards, reinforcing high-quality procurement practices.
  • Participate in supplier evaluations and audits to ensure quality, reliability, and safety compliance.
  • Support the maintenance and procurement of general tools, equipment, and other plant essentials critical to operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in procurement or purchasing, preferably within the construction or manufacturing industries.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build relationships with suppliers.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, tools, equipment, safety materials, and plant hardware used in precast concrete production is an asset.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with a focus on timely and efficient procurement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with procurement software or ERP systems.
