Amalgamated Dairies Limited –Permanent Full-time Position

Position Overview:

We are looking for an experienced and strategic leader to oversee procurement for both our dairy manufacturing operations and food service distribution facility in Summerside, PEI. This role is responsible for sourcing, supplier management, inventory planning, and regulatory compliance, while also leading a skilled purchasing team. The ideal candidate brings proven expertise in both dairy and foodservice procurement, strong leadership capabilities, and a results-oriented mindset.

Location:ADL Water St. - 79 Water St. Summerside, PE

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies that support the needs of both dairy manufacturing and food service distribution operations
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the purchasing team to ensure high performance and accountability
  • Source and procure raw materials, ingredients, packaging, and food service products (dry, refrigerated, frozen)
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, negotiating favorable pricing, terms, and service levels
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production and distribution teams to ensure consistent supply and minimal waste
  • Analyze supplier performance, market trends, and pricing data to identify cost-saving opportunities and mitigate supply chain risks
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, quality assurance standards, and internal traceability protocols
  • Collaborate with internal departments, including production, logistics, sales, and finance, to ensure cross-functional alignment
  • Implement and improve procurement processes and systems that drive efficiency, accountability, and real-time visibility
  • Prepare and deliver reports and presentations to senior leadership on procurement metrics, spend analysis, and strategic initiatives

Compensation and Benefits:

  • The salary range is from $82,000 to $92,000, and is negotiable based on the individual's qualifications and experience in similar positions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of procurement experience
  • Proven background in dairy, food manufacturing, or food service distribution environments
  • Strong knowledge of procurement best practices, vendor management, and contract negotiation
  • Familiarity with food safety and quality standards, including CFIA, HACCP, and traceability systems
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with ERP and inventory management systems, as well as Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Assets:

  • Certification in supply chain or procurement (e.g., CPSM, CPM, CSCP)
  • Experience in a leadership role
  • Understanding of local and regional food distribution networks and vendor landscape
  • Background in lean procurement or continuous improvement practices
