Job summary

Tsurumi Canada is seeking a Procurement Manager to lead the procurement strategy, oversee budget, supplier performance, and inventory availability. The role reports to the Vice President of Operations and collaborates with internal teams to strengthen the supply chain.

You will build strategic partnerships, manage a team, negotiate supplier agreements, monitor KPIs, and drive continuous improvement in procurement processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field with 5–8 years of procurement or supply chain experience.
  • Significant management experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or distribution environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the procurement department, including team supervision and development.
  • Define and deploy the procurement strategy and policies in alignment with the company’s strategic plan.
  • Establish annual objectives and ensure departmental budget planning and monitoring.
  • Collaborate with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure a high-performing, flexible, and robust supply chain.
  • Optimize procurement processes to improve operational efficiency and strengthen relationships with suppliers and internal clients.
  • Work closely with various departments to plan inventory needs and ensure optimal product availability.
  • Optimize inventory management (min/max) and reduce obsolete or slow-moving stock.
  • Ensure rigorous cost control and analyze budget variances.
  • Define, monitor, and continuously improve key performance indicators (KPIs) related to procurement.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and support their implementation.
  • Negotiate and manage strategic supplier agreements and contracts.
  • Structure, mobilize, and develop the procurement team (work organization, recruitment, training, and coaching).
  • Perform any other related duties required to ensure the proper functioning of the department.

Informations

The Procurement Manager reports to the Vice President of Operations. He or she defines and implements the procurement strategy to optimize costs, supplier performance, and inventory availability. He or she is responsible for budget management, performance tracking, and the continuous improvement of processes, while contributing to the overall robustness of the supply chain. In collaboration with internal teams, the incumbent mobilizes their team and develops strategic partnerships that support the achievement of organizational objectives.

Specific Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field combined with 5 to 8 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management;
  • Significant experience in management or leadership role within an industrial, manufacturing, or distribution environment.
Technical Requirements
  • Excellent command of French and English, both written and spoken (approximately 50% of communications with suppliers outside Quebec and with Canadian and U.S. subsidiaries);
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools;
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., GP, SAP, Oracle);
  • Strong expertise in procurement and supply chain management;
  • Solid understanding of procurement strategies and industry best practices;
  • Proficiency in inventory management principles (forecasting, replenishment, turnover, obsolescence);
  • Experience in supply chain optimization and continuous improvement;
  • Experience in supplier negotiation and contract management;
  • Experience in budget management and cost control;
  • Ability to define, monitor, and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs);
  • Relevant certifications (SCMP, APICS, PMP, Lean, etc.) are considered an asset.
