Job summary

Victor Energy Ltd. is seeking a Procurement Manager to execute and drive the procurement strategy for materials, equipment and services, building strong relationships with external stakeholders in Calgary.

The role supports project management and estimating teams to ensure cost effectiveness and timely delivery of long-lead items and third-party services. Responsibilities include leading a purchasing team, sourcing suppliers, negotiating master agreements, and reporting to senior management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business/Finance/Engineering required or 4-5 years purchasing experience.
  • Strong computer skills in a Windows environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team responsible for the purchase of standard materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and services of a routine nature for field personnel and other employees as requested.
  • Communicate with the project management teams regarding purchasing issues and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Ensure procurement is completed in a timely and cost-effective manner. Coordinate and expedite delivery of materials as required.
  • Locate new sources of supply and maintain business relationships with existing vendors, as required.
  • Be a forward-thinking leader and mentor for the purchasing team, and implement the procurement strategy that aligns with company's vision.
  • Follow and implement established limits, quality, quantity, and price guidelines.
  • Assess company requirements and develop specifications for material and services to be procured by the team.
  • Research materials for price and quality; invite quotes and review quotations on long-lead items.
  • Meet with manufacturing representatives and stay current on new products and their uses.
  • Provide regular reporting to senior management as and when required.
  • Liaise with field personnel; assist in the return of unused goods and disposal of surplus material.
  • Assist in the development of processes, negotiating and executing master service agreements.

Job description

The Procurement Manager's role is to execute and drive the procurement strategy for materials, equipment and services while building and maintaining business relationships with external stakeholders. The Procurement Manager is expected to integrate and implement best practices, in addition to maintaining a standard purchasing and receiving work process. The Procurement Manager will also be assigned multiple complex projects that they will be responsible for monitoring the purchasing the material, equipment, and services, as well as supporting the Estimating team during the bidding stage. As a support function to project management and the estimating team, the Procurement Manager will ensure cost effectiveness and timely delivery of long-lead items and 3rd party service.

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Engineering and/or 4-5 years purchasing experience is required Extensive experience in drafting vendor agreements including the ability to strategically assess and mitigate risks with vendors and suppliers Considerable knowledge of laws, ordinances and regulations pertaining to corporate purchasing practices Strong computer skills in a windows environment preferred.
