Job summary

Halifax Water invites applications for a Regular Full-Time Process Technician based at the Mill Cove Wastewater Treatment plant. This role is technical and team-oriented, focusing on operating, maintaining, repairing and servicing wastewater treatment assets to support a safe and clean community.

The successful candidate will develop hands-on skills, complete required operator certifications, and collaborate with the team to ensure regulatory compliance and health and safety across the treatment

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 and a two-year technical program in wastewater or related discipline.
  • Must complete Operator-in-Training wastewater certificate within six months of hire.
  • Must pass Level 1 Nova Scotia NSEL Wastewater Treatment exam within 12 months of hire.
  • Equivalent combination of industry training and experience may be considered.
  • Must have a valid NS Driver's license and be willing to use own vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain Halifax Water wastewater treatment facilities, biosolids handling facilities, leachate treatment facilities, and related infrastructure.
  • As part of a treatment facility team, assist in ensuring compliance with federal/provincial regulations and health and safety standards.

Job description

Halifax Water is inviting applications for one (1) Regular Full-Time Process Technician based out of the Mill Cove Wastewater Treatment plant. The Process Technician is a technical, team-oriented position requiring the appropriate knowledge and hands-on skills to operate, maintain, repair, and service wastewater treatment assets.

Qualifications

The minimum qualifications include grade 12 plus a two (2) year community college technical program, applicable to wastewater treatment or related discipline. The successful incumbent must successfully complete the Operator-in-Training wastewater certificate within six months of date of hire and pass the Level 1 Nova Scotia Department of Environment and Labour (NSEL) Wastewater Treatment examination within 12 months of the date of hire. An equivalent combination of industry recognized wastewater treatment, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or instrumentation training and experience may be considered. The successful incumbent must also have a valid NS Driver's license and be willing to use their own vehicle.

Responsibilities

This position is responsibile for the operation and maintenance of Halifax Water wastewater pollution control facilities, biosolids handling facilities, leachate treatment facilities, and associated infrastructure. As a member of a treatment facility team, assists in ensuring compliance with Federal/Provincial regulations and public/staff health and safety.
