Job summary

Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL) is seeking a Process Safety Engineering Student in Calgary, Alberta, to work with Operations, Process Engineering and Asset Integrity teams on risk reviews, PHAs, and incident investigations. The role offers hands-on experience in identifying and mitigating process safety risks across major Canadian assets.

This 12-month term begins May 2027 and involves site visits, data analysis with Excel and BI tools, and collaboration across technical groups to

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering with strong academic performance.
• Interest in process safety, risk management, and industrial operations.
• Basic proficiency with Excel; familiarity with Power BI/Spotfire, SQL or Python is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Participate in risk reviews and support engineering assessments for new and existing risks.
• Review and track Key Performance Indicators to ensure operating assets are being run and maintained.
• Provide process safety and integrity support to ongoing operation, maintenance and new projects.
• Participate and perform failure analysis of failed components.
• Provide recommendations for repair and develop mitigation strategies.
