Canadian Natural in Calgary, AB, invites you to join our Process Safety team as a Student Engineer. You’ll work on risk management activities, gain hands-on exposure to PHAs, risk assessments, and incident investigations across Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia.
You’ll collaborate with Operations, Process Engineering, Asset Integrity & Reliability, and other technical teams, learn RCA techniques, and contribute to safer, more reliable operations during a 12‑month term starting May 2027.

Our Process Safety team identifies, evaluates, and manages process safety risks across Canadian Natural's operations in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia. Through activities such as Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), risk assessments, inspection deferral studies, and incident investigations, the team supports safe operations and continuous improvement.
As a Process Safety Engineering Student, you'll work closely with Operations, Process Engineering, Asset Integrity & Reliability Engineering, and other technical teams. You'll gain exposure to process safety systems, regulatory requirements, corporate standards, risk assessment methodologies, and the application of Canadian Natural's Corporate Risk Matrix. You'll also learn Root Cause Analysis (RCA) techniques and contribute to initiatives that support safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
