Job summary

JDS Group of Companies in Vancouver seeks a Process Package Engineer to coordinate technical development, procurement, and integration of process equipment packages for mining projects.

You will work with process, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, procurement and construction teams to ensure packages meet requirements and are delivered on schedule. Strong documentation and vendor coordination skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Mining, Process or related Engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of process/equipment/package/project engineering experience in mining or mineral processing.
  • Experience with mineral processing equipment and systems.
  • Experience developing equipment specs, datasheets, scopes of work, and technical evaluations.
  • Experience reviewing vendor proposals, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Strong understanding of mineral processing and mining project delivery.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word).
  • Familiarity with engineering and document management systems is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage technical specifications, datasheets, scopes of work, and other engineering deliverables for mineral processing equipment packages.
  • Review process requirements and translate them into equipment and package specifications.
  • Support equipment selection, sizing, and technical evaluations for mineral processing systems.
  • Ensure process packages are integrated with other plant systems and engineering disciplines.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation for RFPs, RTAs, and procurement packages.
  • Coordinate with vendors to obtain drawings, specifications, and documentation.
  • Review vendor proposals and ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Support technical bid evaluations, vendor selection, and procurement activities.
  • Track vendor deliverables and manage technical comments and approvals.
  • Support equipment and package cost estimates during development and execution.
  • Develop trade-off studies and technical comparisons for equipment and design alternatives.
  • Assist with evaluating technical and commercial impacts of package changes.
  • Support continuous improvement of package engineering standards and workflows.
  • Identify and resolve technical interfaces between equipment packages and mine processing systems.
  • Coordinate scope changes and vendor clarifications throughout project lifecycle.
  • Participate in design reviews and project coordination meetings.

Job description

The Process Package Engineer is responsible for coordinating the technical development, procurement, and integration of process equipment packages for mining projects. This position works closely with process, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, procurement, and construction teams to ensure equipment packages meet project requirements, are properly documented, and are delivered in accordance with project schedules and specifications.

Responsibilities:
Process Package Engineering
  • Develop and manage technical specifications, datasheets, scopes of work, and other engineering deliverables for mineral processing equipment packages.
  • Review process requirements and translate them into equipment and package specifications.
  • Support equipment selection, sizing, and technical evaluations for mineral processing systems.
  • Ensure process packages are properly integrated with surrounding plant systems and engineering disciplines.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation for Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests to Award (RTAs), and equipment procurement packages.
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors and suppliers to obtain technical information, drawings, specifications, and documentation.
  • Review vendor proposals, drawings, data sheets, and technical submissions for compliance with project requirements.
  • Support technical bid evaluations, vendor selection, and procurement activities.
  • Track vendor deliverables and coordinate technical comments and approvals.
  • Support equipment and package cost estimates during project development and execution.
  • Develop and maintain trade-off studies and technical comparisons for equipment and design alternatives.
  • Assist with evaluating technical and commercial impacts of package changes and scope alternatives.
  • Support continuous improvement of equipment specifications, standards, and design deliverables.
Interdisciplinary Coordination
  • Liaise with process, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to coordinate package requirements.
  • Identify and resolve technical interfaces between equipment packages and other mine processing systems.
  • Coordinate scope changes, technical queries, and vendor clarifications throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participate in design reviews and project coordination meetings as required.
Documentation & Quality Assurance
  • Review and maintain equipment package documentation, including specifications, datasheets, drawings, manuals, and vendor data.
  • Ensure technical documentation is complete, accurate, and aligned with project standards and requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate document control and tracking of vendor submissions, reviews, and approvals.
  • Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), equipment inspections, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities where required.
  • Initiate improvements to package engineering standards, specifications, templates, and workflows.
Qualifications/Experience/Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Chemical, Mechanical, Mining, Process, or related Engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in process, equipment, package, or project engineering within mining or mineral processing projects.
  • Experience with mineral processing equipment and systems.
  • Experience developing equipment specifications, datasheets, scopes of work, and technical evaluations.
  • Experience reviewing vendor proposals, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Strong understanding of mineral processing and mining project delivery.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Familiarity with engineering and document management systems is an asset.
  • Experience supporting procurement, construction, or commissioning activities is an asset.
