Job summary

Suncor Energy is seeking a hands‑on professional to join our Fort McMurray refinery operations team. You will operate and monitor critical equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and make real‑time adjustments to ensure safe, environmentally responsible production.

Join a crew that values safety, precision, and reliability, working a 12‑hour shift pattern at the Syncrude Aurora site. A 4th Class Power Engineering certificate and a Bachelor’s in engineering are assets for this demanding role.

Qualifications

  • 4 years site experience required.
  • 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering is an asset.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Attach your TSSA operating tickets with your application.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and adhere to refinery management systems.
  • Work on a crew covering a qualified post within an operating unit.
  • Operate refinery equipment safely and efficiently per established procedures.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on process equipment.
  • Monitor operations and equipment for deviations.
  • Review and adjust equipment and process variables for safe, high‑quality output.

Minimum Requirements:


  • 4 years site experience

Responsibilities:


  • Learn and adhere to the refinery’s management systems

  • Work on a crew covering a qualified post within an operating unit

  • Operate the refinery equipment in a safe, efficient manner according to established practices, procedures and operating guidelines

  • Perform preventative maintenance and trouble‑shooting to maintain process equipment

  • Monitor the operation and equipment for deviations

  • Review and adjust equipment and process variables to maintain a safe and environmentally sound operation and to ensure product quality


Location and other Key details:


  • You will work out of our Syncrude Aurora site in Fort McMurray

  • The shift schedule is 3 days 3 nights and 6 off – 12‑hour shifts

  • You will be required to perform some heavy lifting, use ladders and work on elevated work sites such as scaffolds and towers with the ability to perform in a variety of different environments both indoor and outdoor as well as within confined spaces
