Job summary

Primero Americas is seeking a hands-on Process Engineer to join our growth-focused team in Canada. You will perform process engineering calculations, mass balances, and develop flowsheets and P&IDs while coordinating with multi-disciplinary groups to meet client deliverables.

The role reports to the Process Engineering Manager and supports metallurgical functions across North America. A degree in process/chemical/metallurgical engineering with a P.Eng license (or candidacy) is required, with 4–8

Qualifications

• Process/Chemical/Metallurgical Engineering degree required.
• Registered, or candidate for, P.Eng license.
• 4–8 years' experience in engineering, operation and/or commissioning works.
• Experience in mineral processing, metal refining, or related industries.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders.
• Solid understanding of HSE principles and applicable codes.
• Willingness to manage workload fluctuations.
• Ability to read specs, schematics, and engineering drawings.
• Commitment to delivering quality work on schedule.
• 40 hours per week.
• Eligible to work legally in Canada.

Job description

Primero America’s team is currently looking for a Process Engineer. This is a unique opportunity to join our talented team and be part of Primero’s growth and success. Primero is an Australian-founded company, established in 2011 and rapidly growing in Montreal since 2016. We expanded into Houston in 2022, Toronto in 2023, and Salt Lake City in 2026, strengthening our North American presence. We specialize in the design, procurement, and construction management of mineral processing plants.

As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for process engineering calculations, mass balances, establishing design criteria, development of flowsheets and P&IDs. You will help with process design and other deliverables required by our clients by providing sound knowledge and understanding of the work methods and techniques applied in the design of processing facilities, outputs for studies and coordination with other disciplines. You will also help with the development and implementation of the metallurgical functions for Primero Americas. This position is reporting to the Process Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

What We’re Looking For:

• Process/Chemical/Metallurgical Engineering Degree
• Registered (or candidate for) P. Eng license
• 4 to 8 years’ experience in engineering, operation and/or commissioning works
• Experience in the mineral processing, metal refining, or related industries;
• High level of analytical ability used to solve complex problems;
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
