Job summary

Teledyne MEMS in Edmonton seeks a Process Scientist/Engineer/Technologist to lead Dry Processing activities for MEMS and semiconductor projects. You will own manufacturing processes and work with cross-functional teams to mature unit processes from development to production.

The role requires a 2+ year Dry Processing background, knowledge of plasma etch/deposition and DoE, plus strong communication and teamwork skills. On-site in Edmonton with competitive compensation and growth potential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or Science with minimum 2 years Dry Processing experience (DRIE, RIE, PECVD, EVAP & PVD) in MEMS/semiconductor.
  • Experience with Dry Processing technologies, Plasma Etch, Plasma Deposition, Sputter and Evaporation.
  • Knowledge of Dry Processing quality metrics, tools and capabilities.
  • Familiarity with statistics and statistical process control (JMP beneficial).
  • Knowledge of Design of Experiments.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable to changing needs.
  • Creative problem solver in a demanding environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own manufacturing processes as the technical owner.
  • Develop and optimize unit processes to support MEMS device development.
  • Integrate and troubleshoot processes within cross-functional teams.
  • Lead continuous improvement to improve yield and margins.
  • Incorporate best manufacturing practices in early development of MEMS products.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and document control.
  • Investigate and disposition non-conformances.
  • Qualify new and existing equipment for performance.
  • Support transfers from development to manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with engineering to enable smooth process implementation.
  • Communicate issues with operators and supervisors clearly.
  • Drive efficiency, cost and sustainability improvements.
  • Assist colleagues to maintain a positive work environment.

The Process Scientist/Engineer/Technologist will provide technical engineering expertise in the Dry Processing process module to support all departments and will be working within a team that provides stable, standard processes for optimization of current production or support of new development projects.

What You Will Do:
  • Responsible technical owner of manufacturing processes
  • Develop and optimize unit processes to support next generation MEMS device product development
  • Integrate and troubleshoot processes as part of cross-functional team
  • Initiate continuous improvement activities designed to improve yield and widen process margins
  • Incorporate best known manufacturing methods into early development phase of MEMS products
  • Remain compliant with quality standards and promote a culture of quality excellence
  • Follow all documentation protocols, and ensure controlled documents are accurate and up to date
  • Investigate and disposition non-conformance events related to relevant areas of work
  • Qualify new and existing equipment to achieve optimal performance
  • Facilitate process transfers from process development to manufacturing
  • Liaise with other areas in engineering on module processes to create a smooth transition to manufacturing and rapid effective implementation of the new process and technologies
  • Liaise with operators and production supervisors about issues encountered
  • Work towards improvement in efficiency, cost and sustainability
  • Support other process engineers and staff to create a positive work environment
What You Need
  • Bachelors’ degree or higher in Engineering or Science with minimum 2 years relevant Dry Processing experience ( DRIE, RIE, PECVD, EVAP & PVD) in either the MEMS or semiconductor industry is required
  • Working knowledge of Dry Processing technologies, Plasma Etch, Plasma Deposition, Sputter and Evaporation
  • Working knowledge of Dry Processing quality metrics, tools and their capabilities.
  • Basic knowledge of statistical analysis and statistical process control (JMP experience beneficial)
  • Working knowledge of Design of Experiments
  • Excellent team player
