Job summary

A leading recruitment agency in Canada is seeking a Process Engineer for a site-based role in Red Deer. Candidates should have over 10 years of progressive engineering experience, with specific expertise in EPCM and project execution. This position offers a hybrid schedule of 3 days on-site and 2 days remote. Responsibilities include developing engineering designs, performing hydraulic calculations, and managing project work. Excellent communication skills and a Chemical Engineering degree are required.

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s abstract.
  • Knowledge of EPC practices and the economics involved.
  • Familiarity with industry/regulatory codes and design criteria.

Responsibilities

  • Develop turnaround packages for PSVs and evaluate contingencies.
  • Update information in the IPRSM database.
  • Provide process input to datasheets and perform hydraulic calculations.

Skills

Process Engineer - Site Based Role

Our client is a leading Engineering, Procurement, Construction Company with expertise in oil sands, refining, petrochemicals and pipeline segments and covers both operational and engineering aspects.

Currently we are recruiting for a Red Deer, AB.

We are seeking motivated self-starters and team contributors with 10+ years of progressive engineering experience, 10+ years’ Canadian experience, 2-3 years’ leadership experience within an EPCM / industrial plant environment to join our team. Successful candidates are committed to delivering fit-for-purpose approaches and designs for our clients and proven experience & proficiency with:

3 days/week on site, 2 days a week remote (from home or in office in Calgary or Edmonton). There may be some flexibility in this schedule.

Accountabilities
  • Develop turnaround packages, with an emphasis on replacing or upgrading PSVs, possible including
  • Evaluating contingencies, determining relief loads, sizing PSVs and their inlet & outlet piping. Familiarity and experience with working with overpressure protection and sizing PSVs is a must
  • Updating information is an IPRSM database (so knowledge of IPRSM is an asset)
  • Updating and authenticating P&IDs and LDTs
  • Support for Risk Assessments
  • Hazard mitigation action follow-up
  • Data Sheet and design support for static/rotating/fired equipment
  • Hydraulic calculations
  • Pressure regulator sizing and calc's
  • Providing process input to datasheets
  • Searching for and gathering the information required for this, whether from drawings, databases, contacting people.
  • Directing and checking the work of an EIT supporting this work
Position Requirements
  • Chemical Engineering degree through an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Registered with the Association of Professional Engineers & Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) as a Practicing professional engineer (P.Eng.)
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s abstract.
  • Knowledge of project execution objectives, man-hour estimation, manpower planning, schedule development, management of change, and schedule adherence.
  • Knowledge of EPC practices and the economics involved.
  • Knowledge of industry /regulatory codes and standards, and design and/or layout criteria pertinent to the process discipline.
  • Excellent communication skills (Oral and Written).
  • Provide comprehensive complex engineering and design services by establishing the design criteria and implementing the preparation of specifications, design computations and deliverables in accordance with project requirements
  • Plan, develop, coordinate, review, and report the progress of process engineering work on a project or assignment.
