ANDRITZ is seeking a Process Engineer / Process Modeler to support studies, design, optimization, and operator training using ANDRITZ IDEAS simulation software. The role focuses on building dynamic and steady-state models for mining and mineral processing, translating data into practical models for decision-making.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mining, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
Post-graduate engineering education is an asset.
Strong fundamentals in mining, unit operations, mass and energy balances.
Experience with process simulation and modeling (steady-state and/or dynamic).
Understanding of process control concepts and PFDs/P&IDs.
Familiarity with project-based engineering workflows.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain steady-state and dynamic process models using IDEAS.
Build flowsheets, mass and energy balances, and process logic.
Use process models for design verification, optimization, and training simulators.
Prepare technical specifications, manuals, and vendor docs.
Support project audits, HAZOPs, debottlenecking, and CAPEX/OPEX planning.
Present modeling results to technical and non-technical audiences.

Job description

We are looking for aProcess Engineer / Process Modeler with a strong interest inprocess simulation and modeling to support process studies, analysis, design, optimization, and operator training usingANDRITZ IDEAS simulation software. As aProcess Engineer - Modeling and Simulation, you will develop and apply dynamic and steady-state process models of mining and mineral processing plants and other industries to supportprocess studies, design, performance analysis, operator training, and data driven decision-making. This is aclient-facing technical role spanning from early-stage studies through project execution and plant start-up. You will translate engineering data, test results, and operating experience intopractical, buildable process models, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across sales, engineering, commissioning, and operations.

What You Will Be Doing

Process Modeling & Simulation

Develop and maintainsteady-state and dynamic process models usingANDRITZ IDEAS and other simulation tools.
Buildflowsheets, mass and energy balances, process logic, and control representations for mining and mineral processing plants.
Use process models for:
Process design verification and optimization
What-if and scenario analysis
Operator training simulators (OTS)
Control System Checkout
Digital Twins
Performance analysis and troubleshooting
Prepare and review technical specifications, manuals, reports, and vendor documents.
Assist with process model development by translating engineering documents, feasibility reports, test data, pilot results, or operating data into process models.
Contribute to techno-economic evaluations (TEA), including process design assumptions, modeling input, and cost drivers.
Support process audits, HAZOP analysis, debottlenecking studies, and optimization initiatives to improve CAPEX/OPEX planning, engineering verification, commissioning, operator training, and plant startup.
Provide technical support to the sales organization during customer meetings and detailed proposals.
Participate in technical discussions with customers, internal product groups, and suppliers.
Present modeling results and technical findings in a clear, structured manner to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Identify technical risks, scope changes, and improvement opportunities in support of project management and business development.

What We're Looking For

When selecting candidates, we will be looking for the following essential skills, abilities, and experience:

Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Metallurgy Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Post-graduate education in Engineering is an asset.
