Job summary

Gerdau North America is seeking a Process Engineer for its Selkirk, MB facility. You will report to the Rolling Mill Superintendent and be responsible for developing and communicating the necessary engineering data for the production of steel billets and products.

Preferred candidates will have a degree in Metallurgical Engineering and 3–5 years of experience, along with excellent communication and problem-solving skills. The role offers benefits such as health insurance and tuition reimbursement.

Job description

We are currently looking for a Process Engineer at our Selkirk, MB facility.

Job Summary

Reporting to the location's Rolling Mill Superintendent, you will be responsible for developing, refining and communicating the engineering and operating data needed to produce billets and finished products.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare and/or review all data sheets, diagrams and flow charts needed for the correct and efficient operation of the department equipment.
  • Receive, collect, interpret and extrapolate data from the production process to monitor current performance against established practices and make recommendations for improving efficiencies.
  • Work in close cooperation with department supervisors and appropriate maintenance and operations personnel to ensure correct operation of all related equipment to achieve desired production, safety and quality levels.
  • Develop proper engineering information to facilitate departmental requests and needs for cost justification.
Qualifications
  • Basic knowledge of metallurgy and an understanding of steel manufacturing and techniques used in the melting, refining and costing of molten steel or modern rolling practices.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a degree or diploma in Metallurgical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering Technology, or a related engineering curriculum.
  • 3–5 years of related work experience.
  • Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
