Key Responsibilities And Authorities
- Retrieve and monitor assigned work center performance, maintain, update, and present monthly open issues. Participate in continuous improvement opportunities on new/existing equipment, using data to support findings.
- Order new equipment for the Mechanisms Group, including machine, tooling, and programming specifications. Coordinate development, delivery, and integration while working with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with financial and manufacturing/layout requirements.
- Travel locally and internationally (as required) to participate in onsite meetings and acceptance trials.
- Attend quote meetings and develop detailed costed equipment quotes. Review, revise with management, and distribute approved copies. Support costing provided, based on existing data or budgetary costs.
- Issue RFQ’s to vendors with clear requirements, specifications, and process steps to ensure comprehensive responses. Develop internal and external packaging requirements with the Packaging Engineer.
- Review vendor quotes thoroughly, ensure they meet RFQ requirements, seek clarification, and justify costs.
- Hold and lead open issues meetings, schedule, document minutes, and follow up on tasks across departments.
- Support customer visits during production and assembly, representing the department professionally and as an ambassador of the company.
- Develop capital approval packages, follow up on approvals, and manage purchase orders and invoices within budgets.
- Support development of inline plastics processing technologies and assist in creating lineside documentation for turnkey processes.
- Work safely, adhering to company policies and legal requirements.
- Ensure completion of PHSR, ergonomic, and environmental assessments on new equipment, documenting all processes.
- Investigate potential vendors for new processes and technologies, pursue NDAs, and review vendor viability with the team.
- Coordinate vendor training sessions for involved departments and personnel.
- Participate in or lead program meetings, continuous improvement initiatives, Kaizen events, Gemba walks, LPAs, TPMs, and J.H.S.C. activities.
- Collaborate with departments to address line issues, ensure shipment deadlines, and support qualification of parts and processes.
- Work with the Mechanisms Group on divisional goals and directives.
- Complete tasks related to ECNs, DMNs, launch issues, quality issues, and flawless launches, providing evidence and confirming closure.
- Develop process documentation, including setup instructions, process flow diagrams, safety procedures, and PFMEAs.
- Maintain process capability, conduct time studies, and investigate bottlenecks with supporting departments.
- Review and revise materials for accuracy and clarity.
- Adhere to departmental, divisional, and group standards, including IATF, ISO14001, WHMIS, and customer-specific standards.
- Support team members and gain knowledge in packaging cost development.
- Attend relevant training locally and internationally.
- Participate in GP-12/Containment activities to address manufacturing defects upstream.
- Support design for manufacturing, milestone reviews, prototype builds, and open issues meetings with MTC.
- Engage directly with supervisors, lead hands, and operators.
- Knowledge of core tools used in the automotive industry is advantageous.
- File and archive departmental documentation systematically.
- Practice Kaizen principles and participate in related activities.
- Perform other duties, including special projects, as required.
