Job summary

Brookfield Asset Management is seeking a Finance & Operations professional for the Private Funds group at Brookfield Place, Toronto. You will support fund reporting, NAV review, and capital activity, working closely with external fund administrators and auditors.

The role requires a CPA/CA designation, a university degree in business or accounting, and at least five years’ experience in finance or accounting within private funds. Strong Excel and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• University degree (business or accounting an asset).
• Professional accounting designation (CPA/CA).
• Minimum of five years of progressive work experience in finance and/or accounting functions.
• Experience in private funds and knowledge of the investment management industry would be an asset.
• Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Superior communication skills (oral and written).
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Strong financial systems experience, including advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Review quarterly financial reporting to investors and other users, including financial statements prepared under US GAAP, and fund performance metrics.
• Review NAV packs prepared by external Fund Administrators for accuracy and completeness.
• Manage Fund capital activity, liquidity and forecasting, including investor queries and compliance.
• Present quarterly significant transactions to senior management.
• Coordinate with external service providers to ensure timely and accurate investor information.
• Review supporting documents for investor K-1s and Canadian tax TBs.
• Prepare internal and external audit requests and maintain control documentation.
• Understand complex fund structures and their impact on fund flows and consolidation.
• Assist with analysis of complex accounting issues and process improvements.
