Job summary

Polytainers, Inc. is seeking an Electrician to support daily printing machine electrical operations in our Ontario facility. You will install, maintain, and troubleshoot AC/DC motors and drives, read relay/ladder logic, and provide hands-on technical support to achieve production targets.

You will participate in continuous improvement, safety programs, and training plans, collaborating with the Printing Maintenance Supervisor to ensure compliance with cGMP and HACCP.

Qualifications

• Must hold a licensed Industrial or Construction-maintenance Electrician credential in Ontario.
• Two years in fast-paced manufacturing and strong problem-solving skills.
• Proficient with PLCs, electrical diagrams, and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day electrical technical support to printing operations.
• Install, maintain and troubleshoot electrical systems on manufacturing lines.
• Lead resolution of escalated issues using structured problem-solving.
• Attend shift changeover meetings and communicate issues clearly.
• Identify continuous-improvement opportunities for reliability and productivity.
• Assist in documentation, spare parts, and preventative maintenance planning.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Printing Maintenance Supervisor, the Electrician is responsible for supporting the daily manufacturing electrical operations of printing machines, identifying continuous improvement opportunities that provide manufacturing reliability and productivity and providing day-to-day technical support to enable achievement of production targets and Printing department objectives.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITES

• Provide Day to Day Technical Support to Printing Operations by Installing, maintaining and troubleshooting electrical systems.
• Take ownership and lead resolution of escalated day to day electrical problems using the problem-solving methodology.
• Attend and communicate electrical issues and other information at shift changeover meetings.
• Provide feedback to Printing Maintenance Supervisor and Lead Hand Electrician on the compliance to processes and procedures.
• Implement Continuous Improvements by identifying improvement opportunities.
• Participate in improvement projects and establishment of associated Standard Work.
• Facilitate implementation of maintenance process changes on the shift.
• Assist in accreditation of new or upgraded processes.
• Assist process engineer in establishing requirements for documentation, spare parts and preventative maintenance programs for new projects.
• Identify and communicate to Printing Maintenance Supervisor personnel skill gaps and opportunities.
• Participate with Printing Maintenance Supervisor to establish skill development and training plans.
• Train personnel as required.
• Always comply with plant safety and HACCP, using appropriate PPE while performing various duties
• Monitor and Ensure Health & Safety / HACCP & SQF / 5S Compliance, including proactively identify and suggesting ways to eliminate hazards and participating in safety Investigations when required.
• Must follow food safety and cGMP processes and procedures.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Educational Requirements:

• Must be a licensed Industrial or Construction-maintenance Electrician

Minimum Experience/Field:

• Two years’ experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Computer Skills:

• Good PC skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Licenses/Permits Required:

• Industrial-442A or Construction-maintenance 309A Electrical license (in Ontario)

Communication Skills:

• Proven track record working with people and problem resolution and strong interpersonal, collaboration skills

Additional Education/Experience/Skills:

• Ability to read, interpret and revise relay and ladder logic, power distribution drawings and documentation.
• Ability to install, maintain and troubleshoot AC/DC motors, drives sensors and detectors
• Knowledge of PLC-based control systems.

Physical Requirements:

Heavy lifting and prolonged standing is required. Walking, climbing, reaching, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling and some repetitive arm, wrist and shoulder movements are required in this position.
