Job summary

Rheinmetall Canada seeks a Principal Systems and Cloud Infrastructure Administrator to design the target hybrid IT architecture (on‑premise with Azure/AWS) and drive its concrete implementation with the team. This hands‑on role allocates time between design, planning and migrations and the actual configuration, troubleshooting, and production rollout, working with systems, security, and network admins.

• Knowledge of data sovereignty requirements for controlled goods.
• Cloud security skills (CSPM, Zero Trust, Defender for Cloud) are a plus.
• Bilingual (French/English).

As a Principal Systems and Cloud Infrastructure Administrator at Rheinmetall Canada, your main challenge will be to design the target architecture of our hybrid IT environment and bring it to life concretely with the team. This is a hands-on role: about half of your time will be spent on design, planning, and technological choices, and the other half on implementation, configuration, and troubleshooting, alongside our three administrators (systems, senior systems, and network).

Here will be your main responsibilities:

• Participate in designing the target architecture of the hybrid IT infrastructure (on-premise and Azure/AWS cloud) and directly participate in its implementation.
• Plan and carry out the migration of services to the cloud, taking into account data residency and sovereignty constraints.
• Define architecture standards and baseline configurations, then apply them concretely in environments with systems and network administrators.
• Evaluate envisioned solutions, conduct proofs of concept, and recommend technical orientations.
• Design and implement hybrid identity, connectivity (ExpressRoute, VPN), and segmentation solutions, integrating security-by-design principles (Zero Trust, least privilege).
• Contribute to the technical aspect of compliance programs as well as continuity and disaster recovery plans.
• Work daily with systems and network administrators: configuration, deployment, testing, troubleshooting, and production rollout of solutions.
• Take charge of resolving complex technical problems and participate in planned interventions, including occasionally outside normal hours during deployments.
• Design and maintain development environments and the DevSecOps chain used by engineering teams.
• Document configurations, procedures, and architecture diagrams, and ensure their updating.
• Ensure active technological monitoring and propose directions for the evolution of the IT platform.

The qualifications you should possess:

The assets we are looking for:

• Degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
• 7 to 10 years of experience in IT, including at least 3 years in administration of solutions or cloud infrastructure, with sustained hands-on experience.
• Demonstrated expertise on Azure (AZ-305 or equivalent) and AWS (AWS Certified Solutions Architect or equivalent) - preferred.
• Experience in hybrid infrastructure design and cloud migration in a regulated context.
• Knowledge of CMMC, CP-CSC, EIPA requirements and data sovereignty constraints for controlled goods.
• Cloud security skills (CSPM, Zero Trust, Defender for Cloud), an asset.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and technical documentation skills.
• Bilingual (French/English).*
