Role Overview :
Base salary range : $160,000 - $180,000 per year + bonus / equity. We seek a Principal Platform Engineer (Azure) to lead our Azure infrastructure evolution, focusing on scalability, security, and efficiency. This hands-on role requires deep technical expertise, leadership, and excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities :
- Architect and roadmap Azure cloud infrastructure with a focus on security, scalability, and developer productivity.
- Develop internal tools / services using C# / .NET Core, such as bot detection, threat monitoring, and dashboards.
- Enhance cloud security posture with threat modeling, security scans, IAM policies, and compliance (e.g., SOC 2, PCI).
- Maintain and evolve IaC (Terraform, Bicep) for secure, repeatable infrastructure.
- Optimize costs and performance across compute, storage, and networking.
- Manage Azure networking components like VNets, route tables, and hybrid connectivity.
- Lead incident response, postmortems, and mitigation strategies.
- Document architecture decisions and infrastructure changes.
- Support performance benchmarking and reliability testing for Kubernetes and Azure services.
- Evaluate trade-offs, identify risks, and make informed decisions.
- Communicate effectively across teams and leadership.
- Collaborate to ensure infrastructure supports business and compliance needs.
Qualifications :
- 10+ years in cloud / platform engineering, DevOps, or SRE, with 3+ years on Azure.
- Experience building internal tools with C# / .NET Core supporting observability, automation, security.
- Expertise with Kubernetes, container workloads, cloud-native patterns.
- Deep knowledge of Azure security services : IAM, Key Vault, Defender, encryption, access control.
- Proficiency in Terraform, Bicep, or similar IaC tools.
- Strong understanding of Azure networking : VNets, firewalls, hybrid networking.
- Familiarity with observability tools : Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana, DataDog.
- Aligned working hours with Central / Eastern Time Zones.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Bonus : Experience with NIST, SOC 2, PCI, or regulatory environments.
