Job summary

BGC Engineering Inc. is seeking a Senior Geotechnical or Geological Engineer to lead tailings dam design and operation as Engineer of Record for North America.

You will head a multi-disciplinary team to design, construct and support the tailings storage facility, spanning investigations, design, construction, operations and closure. This role requires strong leadership, communication and project management skills, familiarity with GISTM, and willingness to travel with a valid passport across

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Civil or Geological Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in North America.
• 15+ years of tailings management, dam design, or mining geotechnique.
• Knowledge of GISTM and related standards.
• Experience in all tailings project phases: site investigations, design, construction, operations, and closure.
• Strong leadership, analytical, project management, and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel and hold a valid passport.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Engineer of Record for the Tailings Storage Facility (TSF).
• Lead a multi-disciplinary team to design and support construction and operation of the TSF.
• Coordinate site investigations, design, construction, operations, and closure phases.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards including GISTM and client requirements.

The Role

BGC is seeking a North America based Geotechnical or Geological Engineer with experience in the field of tailings dam design and construction. The successful candidate would function as a tailings storage facility Engineer of Record (EoR) and lead an existing multi-disciplinary team to design and support the construction and operation of a tailings storage facility (TSF).

Required Education, Experience & Competencies

• Demonstrated competency and experience working in tailings management.
• Undergraduate degree in Civil or Geological Engineering.
• Is registered as a Professional Engineer in North America.
• 15+ years of relevant work experience in tailings management, dam design, or mining geotechnique.
• Current knowledge of applicable regulations, including the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM) and other relevant guidelines and standards.
• Experienced in all phases of tailings projects: site investigation, design, construction, operations, and closure.
• Strong leadership, analytical, project management, and communication skills.
• Maintain a valid passport and be willing to travel as required for project work and networking.

Position Requirements

Drug & Alcohol Testing

Driver’s License

BGC requires that employees have a valid driver's license, and that employees can drive a field pickup truck. Upon hiring, BGC will require a driver’s abstract to allow for a safety review of your driving history.
